So far I'm on day two, lv6 maybe about 3 hours of play tops. At first, I thought is was kinda boring until i started getting into the skill/leveling system. There's nothing I like more than a skill system that lets you choose where you want to take your avatar, rather than a linear level grind to the cap, or a hybrid of the two where they give you a little perk system every 4 levels or so to give you the feeling of having control over your avatar. All I can say at this point is that its an interesting game at the begining, and unless it wears off by the end of the trial, I'll get the full version.
Definately worth a download, but takes a few lvls to appreciate. when u first get into the game, the combat kinda sucks, very little control, but once you've lvl'd it a bit it becomes a lot of fun. The combat choriography and physics are remarkable and the skill system is the best I've seen
It was a waste of time. I played for 2 hours then deleted it. It took me longer to download and patch than it did to figure out how much I dislike the game.

You do not need to buy the game to play after the trial, just start buying time. Wait till the trial is almost over though, since the free trial ends the second you buy time.

Honestly, GW was boring the first 2 hours, AO was boring the first 2 hours, WoW, EQ2, EQ1, and just about every MMO out there is boring the first 2 hours. You dont get the feel and style of a game the first two hours you play. Hell, it was damn near 2 weeks for me to start finally having fun in SWG(R.I.P), and I didnt start really enjoying my NT in AO until I hit lv 40.

In my opinion, the only thing that made the game worth playing when I was subscribed used to be the community. I say "used to be" because virtually all the community is gone. This game had its best days during the beta, and now it's practically a ghost town. There are few players left in the game, and the social gatherings and in-game events have disappeared. The game does have a "coolness" factor to it, with the unique combat interaction system, but after a while that starts to lose its luster. One you've done the same thing for hours and hours it doesn't seem so cool anymore. I haven't played the game for months and have no intention to go back. SOE thinks that this will breathe some new life into the game, but you can't perform CPR on a dead body...

Hmm Guild Wars: In two hours I was hooked and bought the game AO: In 2 hours I made level 10 and was having a ball... It's a bit slow though and I'm glad it's free now. When I paid for it I cancelled after about level 20 because the game just wasn't worth a monthly fee, imo. Now that it's free? It's awesome EQ1 had me hooked in the first 30 minutes. EQ2 had me hooked before I got done with the trial. Granted I don't pay for it now because it's not worth $15 a month, $5 for the digital updates and $30 for the expansions. If it were JUST the fee... I'd probably still play it. WoW I hated within about oh... 10 minutes... game just doesn't appeal to me. I did give it an honest trial though, all that did was convince me more that it wasn't for me. Even though I was playing with my best friend I didn't subscribe.
You're also blithley ignoring the fact that I beta tested this game for 2-3 months. I already KNOW how to play. I already KNOW what the content consists of. All I needed was to find out what the changes were like to determine that while it's improved it STILL isn't the game for me.
But go ahead and assume that it will always take days to figure out if you like a game or not. To be honest it just doesn't take me that long. I *know* what I enjoy. I don't need 10 days to figure it out, generally. It's good that trials are longer than a few hours, because sometimes a game is 'good enough' to keep you interested but it takes a few extra days to see if there are any deeper flaws.
So my stance is this: I can tell if I DONT like a game very quickly. It takes longer only when I'm not sure right away. In the case of MxO I already knew the game... I just wanted the changes. In WoW I didn't but it didn't take long for the game to turn me completely off. (But I've posted about that elsewhere and won't go into the why's here).
Generally you will have 1 of 3 reactions within the first hour or so of playing: 1) Hate it 2) Really like it 3) Neutral
#1 is usually pretty accurate, depending on what it is you hate about the game you may stick it out and see if your opinion is changed by later gameplay (which, in the case of MxO I already know about) or if it's not something that's going to change later (graphics, interface, etc) you may just stop playing right away. #2 you'll usually either keep playing the trial or run out and buy the game. #3 is when you stick with the trial as long as humanly possible to see if the game is good enough to buy or not.
But, as I said, since I already know MxO all it took was a couple hours to see how the combat had been changed. It's better... actually much better than I expected. But it still isn't the game for me. I'm sorry if you can't GRASP that people can form a quick opinion and have it be accurate for them. But it is true.

Everyone's playstyle and perception of whether a game is going to be good in the first few hours of playing is different. Leave it at that guys
Personally i downloaded it last night and got to level 5. While i'm enjoying it at the moment i'm kinda wary about it becoming dull and repetitive. So far all the missions have been very very similar.

Doesn't get much different.... longer missions, bigger bosses... but basically the same.
