I think its admirable that this is written from "I wonder what happens if I choose X" perspective - but all endings are long known
All 36 of them and there are guides and videos showing all outcomes.
Not everyone watches all those endings, so there is no 'but'. I know I don't. So I'm going to try a second play through and do the opposite of what the author did, choose Triss as I already chose Yennifer on my first play through.
Whatever rocks your boat - clearly there are other options though - maybe not for you but for others- there are ways to experience all Witcher 3 endings without 1st hand replay
I forced myself to finish Witcher3 once and that was more enough for me - as we are all different and not everyone is a raving fan
Watched the other endings so there is no reason for me to ever replay again.
Worked great for me - your milage may vary
Ok, so now I am curious.....name your RPG that is a better game than The Witcher 3..... and I mean, out of the box good, initial download good, not because the modding community made it good, good. Or, is it that you have yet to play any RPG that is 'worthy' of another play through for you!?

Zelda Breath of the Wild - imo it's the best RPG of the decade.
For me it was far better than Witcher 3 in every way, freedom of choice, gameplay mechanics, combat, exploration, replayability, basic gameplay is head and shoulders above Witcher 3
Again we are all different and this is just my opinion and my preference

Wow. Really. More power to you.
I found Breath of the Wild so lackluster and really boring. Just a big empty open world with a bunch of shrines, which after the first few hours, were nothing worth while. I think I stopped playing the game fifteen hours in and never looked back.
I honestly don't get the love for BotW at all. Surprised by that answer though.
I think the world is decent and definitely not empty. My opinion is that I wish more rpg's had a world like this as opposed to junking everything up every 10 feet. So frustrating.
Now, the detail in Witcher 3 is far better but then again one really can't compare them.
I enjoyed my time in Breath of the Wild but I always prefer the elder scrolls OR Dragon Age or Witcher 3. Finished 2 and it was fine but had enough issues that I don't feel like playing it again. going through 1 now.
What I would like for my single player role playing games is enough story so that I can be a part of it but enough world where I can get lost and forget there is a story going on. The caveat to that is I'm more than fine with failing objectives if I don't move my ass. Unlike the Elder Scrolls games that allow the player to screw around for a while until they feel motivated.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
Also I think to some it comes down to whether your tastes are more Western or Eastern. I prefer BotW and FFXV over The Witcher or Elder Scrolls. That is my prefered taste in Eastern over Western.
I think also for you - because you're in the business, and to a much lesser extent me because my son is a games developer - there is an awareness and appreciation for the craft. My son shares your love for BotW but although I recognize the excellent craftsmanship, I'll take the Witcher 3 any day of the week over it.
I lean heavily toward story and he a lot more toward mechanics. I'm that guy who doesn't even like Minecraft. IMO, the Red Baron quest in W3 deserves a special award for a complex and mature story done excellently. I get much more enjoyment out of playing through something like that than in discovering an intended or unintended emergent series of actions.
I have gotten enjoyment out of Pacman, Donkey Kong, Tetris etc. in the past but all of those games for me are just side diversions. RPGs are a whole other type of game for me that I take and play more seriously. They're sort of like an extension of my lifelong love of fiction in books and film. I _need_ them to have good and compelling stories and that is my number 1 criteria when I judge them.

Yen was a terrible choice for me IMO. Maybe in the books shes ok but in W3 specifically shes an underhanded, dismissive, manipulative bitch. Gives impression shes hiding something this whole time.
Triss was ok, in parts 1 and 2... hell in 2, she seemed a little backstabby scheming with the Lodge, but in 3 I actually liked her more. Seems more caring towards Geralt and even others as shes risking her life to free people while living in some peasant apartment. Yen has been cryptic af and even suggested I shouldve callously killed something... or someone, because she thought it would help get to Ciri faster.
Im still a quest or 2 before the end (all preparations made and ready) and im still suspicious (and hoping) she has some devious hidden agenda thatll allow me to murder her before the end and stick with Triss lol. Really bad design to make the last call between choosing Triss and Yen before anyone ever even met Yen.
If it wasnt for the fact this is already a Death March playthrough (which still gets piss easy by level 20) ... id probably be set on an NG+ run to fix this lol. Maybe this, a new spec (gear), and some mods will be motivation enough. Otherwise ill leave it at role playing the "stayed together for the kids" angle
