Ryzom is still one of the best exploration and crafting games ever made. A real sandbox, with no classes, no preset actions, and all items are made by the players. PvP zones contain the best crafting mats, and outposts that produce mats are PvP controlled.

I own this game somewhere, but no idea where. I remember putting about 20 hours in at one point and then wandering off to the next shiny thing. Might be worth diving back in if I can figure out how.

Its on Steam. Now to find out if you can recover your account.

As for Ryzom, its ultra niche but I love it a lot. It offers so much people are looking for and still does things no other games do.

'the only way he could nail it any better is if he used a cross.'

    Kyleran on yours sincerely

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'

Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

It's free to play up to "a certain level and I can't remember what level that is"

Also, I'll add that I just love the art design in this game.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

Ryzom is free to play, with some restrictions. I think you are limited to level 125 (out of 250) for each skill. A unique feature of Ryzom is that you are multiple levels at the same time. If you are level 50 healing, 100 in melee, and 150 in range, you can play at any of the three levels. So one character is all you need. Getting to 125 is a feat.

Free players also have limited storage and mounts/packers.

There are no fixed recipes for crafting; each item takes several mats to make, and people experiment with different mats and qualities to get different outcomes. And mobs only drop mats, everything worth anything is player made. So it is a crafter's paradise.

And there are no fixed actions either. You construct your spells/actions from components, like dmg, recharge, range, etc. It is a true sandbox with little hand-holding. I think that is what makes it niche and why it didn't take off as big as it should have.

As you see, naming is important for the success of the game. I heard or seen this game time to time but never wondered or forget to check it because name of the game is just bland and easy to forget. When i read positive comments, i see it's a diffrent and unique game and i really wan't to try it soon as possible.

I would strongly suggest you give it a fun run, eventhough, the game have less than 200 people playing it nowadays. nor that you will prolly encounter any players anywhere within your first 30 min of playing time. but you should at least get an idea of how MMO was made prior to 2010 as this this probably one of the few first gen MMO left to be in the market in 2020.

Once Ryzom is closed ( god knows when ), it would be a shame to have never tried it even if it is just for a single day.
