funny I knoew people would hung up on teh woman part the moment I see it, good to know you guys are still that easy to predict
Is "hung up" another term for LMFAO at the middle school nerd stereotype? All that's missing is this sign:

Personally I was a closet nerd but mostly a jock in school. I ALWAYS wanted the girls around so I could use my clever lines like "Howya doooing."

nah that means you guys love to waste time with little thing who have little to no meaning and importance, but whatever makes you sleep at night works too, even if its a lie, goverments do this for years and people still buy it

The 90s and 2ks were the era of "there are no women on the internet." You were your avatar and the content you provided, sex didn't matter because nobody could see you (and until mid 2ks when voice became common, couldn't hear you) and had no interest in your real world persona. The correct response to someone insisting they were a "hot grill IRL" was "TITS OR GTFO!"

Now incels throw money at every average looking E-girl on Twitch in the hopes of having her say their name. Men have become sad wretched things.
    Yep.

Internet Rule 30 and "Go make me a sammich" was in full effect back then.

*note: I have memes related to this discussion that I really want to post. But, I know someone is just itching for an excuse to e-punish me. Sad because they are funny, if you have a pulse.

I woud go for it, i'm at medium here and still don't care, worse case I create a new account lol, its not really punitive, onl annoying, even more when you know the mods are in the wrong because tehy can't see the meaning of what is said

Oh there was plenty of women on the internet back then.

Back sometime around 94-95 when I started dating my now wife, i was introduced to the internet via AOL dialup. That was back when AOL had tons of chat rooms and chatting with randoms was pretty fun imho. The account name was my wifes sisters, so it had a girly name. BethieDootle or somecrap like that. Well, I discovered lesbian chat rooms! One day some chick pm's me with only one word "pics". I messaged back "whats pics mean"?. She then sends me a naked pic of herself.

Well let me just tell you that I used that single pic and turned it into a enormously large library of so many naked lesbians. It was glorious. I took that one pic and began messaging every girl I could with "pics?" Sometimes I would just send them some random naked pic from some random person who sent me one, and more times than not I would also get one in return. I snowballed into eventually filling up my now sister-in-laws puny hard drive.

One day, all my beautiful pictures were gone and not a word was said to me about it. I shed a single tear for all the missing boobies and girls playing with each other.

    The end.

I, too met many women on AOL message boards. Games were a whole different ball of wax :)

Yes, women did play video games. The ratio was about 99 men to every woman (maybe more men to women than that?), in those days.

Awesome poem, OP. It defined "the old days" very well :)

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

This is our battle-hymn. Nothing should be changed. Don't let the outrage bend you, Neanderthal. This is who we were. No revisionism.
