Does this apply to investments?
The article sounded like it only applied to direct payments or affiliations but nothing about owning a piece and passively profiting from the market you might influence.
For example, what is the Cap Rate on such investment? Is there a capital gains tax when you stop playing the game?
Regardless, I would think an "investment" means you have "skin in the game" (no pun) and that would make it a "material connection".
I think we'll have to wait and see how it's interpreted in a court case.
