Is it worth playing this game?
I played it years ago but I don't know how it will be now.
If it's worth it, I mean the population and that the admins are active in game problems. (I think it's not p2w?)

P2W isn't really applicable in STO, because PvP is basically non-existent and PvE isn't hard enough to warrant the concern. While there is still power creep, especially among the content that is released behind the lockbox paywalls, there's still nothing that a normal player who just uses free items to play can't do.
The real problem with the game at this point is that they are increasingly locking the "hero" ships behind lockboxes, with every one of them since the TOS expansion being restricted. You can still fly the ones that came out before that (which is most of them, honestly), but things like the Crossfield (Discovery) and the Constitution (both new and old) are significantly harder to get than the endgame versions of the TNG/VOY/DS9 era ships, which are in the cash store. All of them can technically be earned by saving money in the game, but for the Constitution it's over a billion EC, which is not a small undertaking.
So bottom line, it's a decent game, but manage your expectations as to what ships you'll want to fly, or at least how much effort (or money) you want to throw at the game to get the one you want.
Being a long time trekkie fan,you have no idea how angry i was at the game on release day.I summed it up as a pile of garbage,no effort at all,a cash grab using a popular IP to cash in.
They can play the Chris Robert's theme of showing off ships all they want,i don't join in games because i see a cool ship, not a chance in hell. Now if you want to create a whole system of blueprints and crafting and a home base with hired npc's to build/construct a ship, great fun,i'd be in.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

But i do wonder what happens if lockboxes will be considered gambling in the EU
