imageOPINION: Blizzard's Warcraft 3 Reforged Response is Unacceptable - MMORPG.com

Let’s be real. You all knew this editorial was coming. Let’s not waste time, shall we? Blizzard released a statement to the whole Warcraft 3 Reforged embarrassment which had some words in it. Their response is craven, pathetic, but ultimately, unsurprising.

How much more dissapointment can Activision Blizzard give to the lifelong fans before they crumble? As Deckard Cain would say: "This does not bode well!"

Well, Diablo 4 just went from "must buy" to "wait for overwhelmingly positive user reception."

Because the incompetence on display is impressive. Bioware levels of impressive. Almost Sonic team levels of incredible, entertaining, face-planting ineptitude.

Gamers typically have fairly short memories and even after the FO76 debacle there will be no shortage of folks jumping on board for the next Skyrim title because, you know, this time it will be different.

    Yeah right.

My dude said thank you for showing your support who is supporting it? Lol.

I would have supported Blizzard a few years back .. but after the Joke that was all they have done with WOW and BFA, the way they handle things like E sports. And now this .. I am done with giving them another dime of my money. I have to wonder if Blizzard and Bethesda are fighting each other to gain the title of Best to worst company ever.
Thankfully I got my money back on this.

The game has not lived up to expectations and I think the article is a good summary of the issue, but this call to emotional arms "So be mad. Be mad as hell." does concern me. Do not buy the game and put a question mark over Blizzards future products if this concerns you, but don't get mad that will be no help to you what so ever.

I won't be. But that's because my opinion of Bethesda is low.

I didn't put them in the above list of incompetent falls from grace, because, in my opinion Bethesda was never good.

TBH activions/blizzard claiming rights to custom materials made isnt that big of a deal you could always use other software to make your game happen you dont need to use warcraft 3 reforged.... this seems like its done to prevent another Dota type of situation not being on the blizz store! which makes sense from from a business viewpoint

As to the EULA changes in general for WC3:Reforged what does it matter you got your refund if u asked for it either refund or play dont whine about it! im not saying this to be "toxic" but its a fact fans of the game are gonna get stiffed anyway because its activision you are dealing with all they care about is money which can be shown in all the cuts they have given across the blizzard brand..... the blizzard of old is gone

I just hope when it comes to D4 its microtransactions as its only other monitisation because if it is not then i wont be getting that!

I said it once and I'll say it again, Blizzard stay the FUCK away from Diablo 2 as well as your third-world outsourced parties just so you can save some money. This entire thing honestly smelled of Brack. I feel bad for anyone who has legit hopes for Diablo 4/Overwatch 2 and hell even Shadowlands. The shown D4 footage just looked like an expansion for D3. Overwatch 2 is essentially an expansion for Overwatch. Shadowlands still hasn't provided any real information outside of showing off new areas (at least the art team always does a good job regardless of expansion) and that it promises to be 'alt-friendly' (yet they can't make account-wide essences in BfA....right~).

You can get an instant refund for WC3:Reforged. I'd only call their response unacceptable if they didn't allow refunds. Do you want them to apologize to you personally for the product you don't have to buy?

Is it really that simple? As I posted in the other thread, this does more that affect the people that bought this garbage version. The people who had the classic version via b-net got affected too. They might be able to get a refund (I haven't followed) but they're still out a full game they had for at least a decade. I think the most important lesson out of all of this is that we don't OWN anything as long as its tied to requiring launchers etc since they can just change it or worse make it so we can't even get to it again whenever they want. Its not like this is the first time its happened (see the GTA games for pc and music getting removed due to expired licensing agreements on Rockstar's part).

The article is saying blizzards response(which is linked) is unacceptable. That's what I'm commenting on. The game sucks and is causing issues with folks who don't own it (which are addressed in blizzards response) but "unacceptable" is a stretch.

What would you have them say? What could they have posted on a forum that is acceptable?

Situations like this are why I don't immediately buy certain products anymore. I still do have first day buy games like pokemon (though after sword and shield that may have to stop) but overall I wait to see what the reviews are like and in all honesty I am happy about missing this one.

There are just a things I want to say.

    1. I don't blame them for putting in the part in the EULA about all of the custom games being their property. And smart business is going to do that. To think they WOULDN'T do that after DotA is just insane.

    2. I don't see where Brack SHOULD apologize about the Blitzchung incident. At least they brought it up and tried to quell the controversy. Sorry Blitzchung did what he did knowing it was against the rules and he got penalized for it. He deserved what he got. The one problem with social media and anonimity is people think they can say or do what they want without any consequences. Real life is completely different and people need to understand that.

    I pretty much agree

They are giving refunds, that’s the proper way to deal with an unsatisfied customer.

What I find sad is that they’re subcontracting out to China to maximize their roi/profits. So far it doesn’t seem to be working very well for them. Interesting also that Diablo Immortal hasn’t got a release date as of yet. Makes me wonder if they’ve gotten more than they have bargained for.

Imagine if Unreal decided they own everything anyone makes using their engine, despite you paying for the license to use it...

No, most companies would not do that, because it wouldn't hold up in any US court.

It's a big deal partially because people will use other software instead. This will result in less fun custom games that a warcraft 3 player could play using Warcrat 3.

A lot of subcontracting out to Chinese companies is so they can sell the game there too. If they just wanted cheap dev labor they could use a few other much cheaper countries. Blizzard itself cannot operate in China. Battle.net is even blocked by the country's firewall.

    Yeah right.

I'll be jumping on the next Elder Scrolls title because I've always enjoyed their games. Do I have criticisms? Sure. But I'm a big believer in managing expectations, not railing about things I can't change.

And you have even said that despite Fall out 76's warts you've still enjoyed it. I'm pretty sure that people telling you that you shouldn't have played it would have gotten a rolling of eyes.

If a person think the game is good play it. If it has issues but you can overlook them without blowing a gasket then play it.

If it is a horror show don't play it.

If the next game comes out, assess the good and bad and follow the above. But some players are just way too invested in this stuff. And when they are angry they don't just want a refund, they want vengeance. It's kind of pitiful.

I think there is a difference between whining and protesting and most I know are protesting Blizzards business decisions at this point.
