Sadly this reminds me of L:andmark EQ3.The reason i get the same feeling is that i am not seeing very much production at this point and shown some very minute things.
it not only appears to be 2 years away,it SHOULD be at the least 2 years away.Considering the time spent so far,i am seeing more like 3 years away.
However, what has every single dev done over the last 5 or so years?Ealy access, severely unfinished games.I suspect this teams goal is the exact same goal, get to EA stage and release it to the public.
What else has been very notable among all marketing vids, the devs want to make sure we are reminded "this is early gray box work".
I am just not seeing anything that says "HYPE",all i am seeing is Indie.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Joppa loves the WOW design of leveling up..OH GOD NO,that is a HORRIBLE system.
He actually thinks a point spending system is EXCITING? It is a FAKE dumb system for people that have no clue that it is doing NOTHING for the game.
To simplify how dumb the system is,we used to call it a min max system,a design that is only good to screw up.
Point systems are also a LAZY way to design classes. So they use LESS abilities spells and try and fool people into thinking they are better off with less and adding points. This is seriously a no brainer, you rather have Fire dmg +1...2...3...4..5...6...7 or you rather get NEW spells and abilities?
Spending CURRENCY to upgrade, again turns me right off,did this guy get lost in the 90's?Upgrading SHOULD be immersion and realistic not some currency spending system. This is like going into the real world and saying....ok you pay me 50 bucks and all of a sudden your an upgraded version of yourself.
Players SHOULD have SKILLS and upgrade skills through USE.
I do not think these guys have a clue how to make a plausible "make sense" type mmorpg. All they are going to do is jam in some systems to say "we have systems" jam in some "reasons" for currency ,even if they don't make any sense.

One has to wonder why you keep coming to these forums. You think every game is shit, you think every game design is shit, you think the MMORPG genre is shit, and let's face it, the only game you have ever deemed worthy of playing has been past its prime for a good 12 years.
But let us know once more how things were better with FFXI when you had to fight polar bears bare handed while walking in the snow uphill both ways to school...
GOD!!!!! PLEASE don't tell us about the labor pains....SHOW US THE BABY!!!!!!!This game has no guidance...no direction...and no leadership! It will NEVER RELEASE!!! BTW...all 4 of the guys in the vid look like they have be hit with a tranquilizer!

Kind of hard to lump WoW into one argument considering how much it's changed from the beginning. In my opinion, TREE archetypes are one of the most popular class systems in the genre. ArcheAge proved that when it launched. As did RIFT, Star Wars Galaxies and a few others. The only thing Blizzard did wrong was simplifying the original class trees because they wanted children playing their game.
Just because a lot of other MMOs copied WoWs classic talent trees doesn't make them good, it just makes the other MMOs unimaginative.
You spent a bunch of points on crap talents, like +1% more damage for one ability to get to the talents you actually wanted, which were the new abilities.
But maybe they will copy EQs Alternative Advancement instead, where you have a 1000 talent points to spend across 100 talent trees so your choices are 10 times more meaningless.

Loved EQ Classic and hates that carebears had it changed.

What on earth are you babeling about. I ser no fault in the system. Can you try to be a bit optimistic?
God what a negative person you are.
Atleast these Guys are honest on their progression.
Joppa isn't saying he wants to copy WoW's talent system. He likes that points are allotted every level to give a little something to look forward to every level and make your character incrementally stronger. And I agree with him. The core mechanic of your class is your role hasn't changed. This adds a bit of advancement without creating specializations.
What I like about these guys is that they do both show and tell streams. What they show is the actual game and not just some test module that's not going to be the actual game.
Due to so many things being subject to change I'm not taking their words on features as gospel but its the one crowdfunded mmorpg where I without a doubt know how early level gameplay will be like.
I have always spoken about rosecolored glasses when its about nostalgia but I actually enjoyed playing wow classic for a few months because I got to play with lots of friendly people. Getting in a good community will be as important as the game being good for this one.

Issue is they've been showing and telling the same things on stream for years.
Awesome thanks for the updates, will be playing this for sure, hopefully it brings back all the awesome feelings that i had playing eq1 back in the day.
Wiz's is one bitter person, guess ffxi really made an impression on him. One has to ask wtf is he doing in this forum, every comment he makes is pathetic to say the least and misinformed.

The info given makes it seem like the game is still 2+ years out though.

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
