I honestly didn't think that Coronavirus was that bad. I got to look more into this

Its supposedly a more hardcore version of the flu (at least from the information I've been following), with close to 30k victims in China and close to 600 deaths. Pretty big if you take into account that it hasn't been 'known' about very long (even though some 'experts' are saying that the flu is just a lesser version of the disease). I'm not claiming to be a medical person btw, just dug around a little, so everything is subject.

Umm the thing that people dont realize with coronavirus nv2019 is that - people can go from feeling sick but relatively fine to lung failure within 24 hours.

This is precisely what happened to the couple in California- they got diagnosed and quarantined on Saturday, were feeling fine Sunday and then on Monday severe respiratory distress that needed intensive care.

Doctors dont know why this happens with this particular strain - it seems that some people are just genetically predisposed to be severely impacted by this virus.

Most people never get to this point but a small percent of population - this is lethal for them and we are talking 100% healthy people not immune suppressed folks.

Scary man,i have had to deal with lung viruses almost every single winter for the past 20 years.I can only imagine what these people are going through because my cases left me barely able to breathe and wondering every time if i would come through.

They are trying to use crazy drugs to attack blood cells or disrupt the ability of the virus to spread.Drugs usually last resort for HIV or Ebola medications such as Remdesivir. The problem with such powerful medications is the risk of damaging the blood cells and possibly killing the patients anyhow or severe side affects.

I don't like the way science is always testing stuff/blood cell work, animals and diseases and eventually spreading them or causing new variations to happen. If we are down to our most powerful drugs and only hoping for results, what is next?A lot of testing are by military and NOT for the greater good and then the greed of pharmaceuticals is insane.Even if medications are found to work they will lobby the governments and ask ridiculous prices for the medications.

I would say that considering the epidemic over in China,i highly approve of this developer shutting down and not taking any risks. Then to figure a LOT of employees are likely working day to day, barely surviving on their low wages, the stress would be mounting,no money the threat of dying ,scary business.

Ohhh, it seems we have a conspiracy brewing, so what is it, why has the entire world and every news outlet been lying to us? Is it to keep us in check, to push medicine, alien domination?

I love critical thinkers, I too don’t believe in anything I haven’t seen myself. I never saw a moose, a mythical creature for sure. I have visited every continent except Africa, must be fabricated, and since i have only seen earth, the moon and sun firsthand the rest of the galaxy must be a hoax.

dismissing blatant facts and events because of “critical thinking” is dangerous, its the one trait all conspiracy supporters have in common, they think they are smarter then everybody else.

So why, why is all of this not true?

Shit is getting overblown by the media, specialist doctors on Reddit AMA today said the mortality rate for someone infected is 2-3%. The normal flu kills 80,000 Americans per year. This is not the big thing they are making it out to be.
So what's the mortality rate (percentage wise) for normal flu?

Quick search brought this up - That compares with a mortality rate of 0.095% for the flu in the U.S., according to CDC estimates for the 2019-2020 flu season.

If 80,000 die from a 0.095% mortality rate you would be looking at 2.5M deaths from something with a 3% mortality rate

You can't believe any of the numbers coming out of China. They were silencing doctors who were speaking about it publicly before it got real bad. Just like with sars. I've read estimates of the neighborhood of over 100000 mainland chinese infected.

Think about it, nobody goes ham to build a hospital to specifically deal with something that isn't that serious.

Overblown? Quite the opposite my friend. Its not getting nowhere near the coverage it deserves. You have to find alternate sources of information on certain issues. Mainstream media is not your friend.

Game looks cool. I would never play a shooter on a console unless it had full m/kb support and I could hook it up directly to my desktop monitor and modem.

While i do play everything with a controller, even most PC games, this gen of consoles do have keyboard support. I also just noticed yesterday that the PS4 has a new mouse support option which i never noticed before. I know Xbox has always had it.

As for hooking it up directly to my monitor and modem, i've been doing that with every console since the PS2. But isn't TOW on Epic Store? just get it there, Nintendo Switch games rarely drop in price, even the old ones.

That same doc on Reddit AMA said that we dont know the real R naught so we dont know how lethal it is.

The WHO is already conceding that we might be facing a pandemic because it keeps spreading and death toll keeps going up.

The flu is devastating- but we at least have vaccine and anti-flu meds that work for many people. The flu is dangerous because it is so widespread.

The vaccine for ncov2019 is a year away so we dont have shit right now as far as this new coronavirus.

Also there are already reports that this coronavirus is very likely to mutate as it spreads.

Remember that flu kills pretty slowly - there are documented cases in China of coronavirus in healthy people going from feeling slight flu-like symptoms and then being in respiratory failure within 24 hours.

Do not take this virus lightly - as there are people who can die very quickly from it.

I can see where they are coming. The main stream media lies on a daily basis so it’s hard to trust anything they put out as real without further investigation.
  • centkincentkin Member RarePosts: 1,527
The biggest problem with nCoV is you can show no symptoms for up to 14 days but still be capable of spreading it.  This makes it very difficult to contain.  It also puts a significant percentage of people who get it into the emergency room.  We really don't have the beds to handle this kind of thing, and if it becomes a full fledged epidemic in the USA you will see a lot of people dying due to a lack of sufficient treatment.

One other thing that will almost certainly happen is the cancellation of the Tokyo Olympics in July.

    Regular Flu kills people too.
The death ratio between a Corona and a regular Flu is not that much overall to justify all this panic.

The Flu sick vs deaths ratio is 1%, while Corona is 2%.
Which means that over 100 people infected, 1 will die of Flu. 2 if they have Corona.

In the US, 10.000 people already died of Flu this year, while Corona worldwide is stuck at 2.000.
Just to put things in perspective.

Not saying we should ignore the Corona Virus, but we shouldn’t panic by behaving like headless chickens.
