This was a good game. The best Free WoW alternative (IMO) yet different enough to be it's own beast, until Gpotato ruined it with P2W. Even in PvE some guilds required you to spend $70 to $100 dollars for certain cash shop items just to be able to run high level dungeons with them.

It wasn't gPotato's fault, it was the developers themselves. If you compared the then gPotato version to the Russian one at the time, the Russian was even more P2W.
Currently Allods is published by My.COM - a Russian publisher and they now have full control over exactly how much P2W the game is. If you look at the Steam reviews, it also shows how P2W it is.
Actually, the game was the best under gPotato, because the P2W wasn't at its fullest back then.
But now I would advise anyone to stay away from that game. Want a WoW fix? Either play on Blizzard or find a private server, the experience is a lot better than anyting Allods can offer. Even if P2W magically goes away, it remains a very boring and mediocre WoW clone.
It has a sub only server with zero cash shop or p2w, so it has actually magically gone away. The quality of the game is another discussion although I can’t completely disagree with you.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

I thought it was pretty good back when it launched, but as others have mentioned there was far to much P2W in the cash shop. I didn't know it was still kicking or that it had a sub server. I might drop in. Not playing any mmo's atm.

The game is definitely underrated. Classes are fun and the customization is surprisingly deep. Even the graphics hold up well for it being almost ten years old.
Wait! I though this was a..Fantasy game? I mean, you could call computers, ships and .. crew which seems from our age .. Fantasy , but .. can you?

Joking aside I played it years ago. I remeber it as enjoyable but heavily P2W.
