Hi ive looked at this game and it seems really cool. However, there are a few things im confused about:
1. How does this game work, is it like one huge battlefield to fight other players (like PvP everywhere) or does it instance for the battles (a waiting room to get into a battle)?
2. Do I need a credit-card to sign up for the trial?
3. How does the game run - is it laggy?
4. Are there a lot of bugs?
Thanks to anyone who replies, and those who dont reply for looking at my post

1. One huge zoneless gameworld, western europe in 1: 2 scale, no instances. You can fly in 1/2 real time from Germany to Britain. Ground fighting is at frontline towns mostly. Cities can be conquered, the front moves and at the end there is a winner. Either axis or allies. Its open PvP everywhere.
2. yes
3. its stable, but some occasional lag.
4. a few still
-----------------------------------
Life is too short to play bad games.
The game works on the ability to spawn at certain locations around the map. As with 2 waring factions (Allies & Axis) the 2 armies face up along a front that stretches from just south of Rotterdam to just above Paris.
MMOG Comparison Map. This is a map of the front as of 3 years ago and game version 1.8, we're now on game version 1.23 (more towns added in most corners of the map.
The front where we fight is made up of Brigades and Divisions, there are 24 Brigades, each seperated into a number of Divisions. Some Divisions have 4 Brigades, most have 3 Brigades. These Brigades (BDE) and Divisions (DIV) are where we fight. Each BDE/DIV are located at a town or city these are called Choke Points.
Within each Brigade you will find 0, 1 or Many missions, they can be anything from Attack missions to another town on the front (enemy one), to a defence of a town, even resupply missions from the DIV associated with the BDE.
The Theatre map is where you find the action. Under each town you will see some orange icons, they look like a stick man, a tank, plane and a boat. If they are not there then the enemy is not close by.
When a town is being heavily attacked the icons (EWS - Early Warning System) are filled orange, chances are there is some heavy fighting going on in that town.
At this point you can spawn into the town by finding out which BDE is located at the town. Hover over the town pennant (fluttering flag on map) and you will get a pop-up that tells you which BDE is located there. Find that in the list and join the brigade (first tab in list). Now you need a mission.
Select a mission and choose a unit (riflemans a good one to start with). After some seconds (first time to load takes a while), you will appear in the game world.
At this point you can go anywhere you want. Obviously walking on foot takes time, even sprinting takes time. You can sit on most vehicles (press J), they will take you where they are going, most people head to the action and so you will be transported where they are going.
Alternatively if you are on the attack, you need to look for the truck icons on the brigade mission, these are called Mobile Spawn Points (MSPs). These allow you to appear just over 400m from the town you are attacking. These are setup by regular players who drive trucks from the town or forward base between the two towns on the front.
-----
There are lots of different things that you can do in the game, from attacking a town, to defend a forward base (outpost). You can bomb factory facilities in Germany, South West France or Britain, you can patrol the front in a plane, join armour brigades or be a paratrooper and float onto enemy towns (Some of these actions may require you to have higher rank than what you start with in the game).
2. You need a credit card for the 14 day trial, it can be cancelled before the 14 days if you do not want to stick around.
3. The game runs fine, after the first spawn in when it can take upto a minute to spawn in, each subsequent spawn in takes less than 10 seconds and sometimes if you are spawning in the same area it can be pretty much instant. As with all internet games it does lag on occasions. I play from the UK and have a ping to the server of about 200ms (server is in Texas). The game is rarely down, it currently gets patched with new stuff every 6-8 weeks and downtime is usually 1 to 2 hours and campaign turn around is about 45 minutes (new campaign roughly every 30 days). Over and above that the server sometimes burps but has lots of fail safes and is self autonomous and reboots itself and/or calls the engineers with text messages (SMS) if it thinks it can't sort itself out.
4. Yes there are bugs, mostly annoying, some bugs like the die when you take to long to spawn into a blown building is a pain, sometimes we lose connection to the chat server (CTHL bug, however I've not seen this one since the last patch (1.22.3). Other bugs that you may see are graphical tech bugs, for example one that annoys me is the trees flickering at distance, where textures fight to be on top, quite annoying that one. Overall a lot of bugs have been fixed, however with a game that continually developers it will never be bug free.
At the end of the day, you can only try it out. The game takes a while to get into.

Whatever SRES says is absolutely true. He is a valid expert on 99% of the game which has a learning curve associated with it.
I would add that if you are having lag issues to tinker with the game settings. There are a couple that will significantly increase your FPS. As long as you can average 30-40 you are in good shape.
As far as the learning curve is concerned the quickest way to learn is to get Teamspeak and join a squad so you can ask questions and listen to others instead of having to type to everyone with just chat bar. Teamspeak is free and so is the comradery.
