I'm actually enjoying this game quite a bit. Yes I've ran into a couple of bugs but not something where I'm gonna quit over. I'm over halfway through Chapter 2. My biggest rage moment with this game so far was dying over and over from Edric.

I tried him at 22 and I died at the third phase then I came back at 24 and died once used token and killed him on my toxic mage build. I think my pet golem helped keep him off me. It was sheer luck I killed him because the third phase was like "where am I to stand" to avoid the damage.

I see everyone running all these "turret" builds I guess and which makes everything else simpler.. I'm going with a 2H bruiser type and being melee makes more encounters difficult I guess because if I don't watch out I can die really quickly. Right now the Hambach is kicking my ass. How do you like being a Mage? I'm thinking of either trying out a dagger rogue build or some sort of archer.
I have been having a blast on this game playing casually for a hour here and there. Got about 40 hours in so far. Enjoying the flow of things. Nice mesh between d3 and POE. Enough character progression to let me tweak things, try new builds, yet not too chaotic to make me have to spend 100s of hours min maxing.

I don't like the rage to willpower wait because I haven't got the nodes to mitigate that. Been using mainly the percentage willpower to rage thing that still takes time to regenerate. I love my Pistol/Catalyst build way more and adore my pistol/ shield build most. I have a bow build and I also have a sword/catalyst and looking to make a summoner. I am only at act 2. Been looking at a 2 hand build too but don't like the seigebreaker stand still build.
I also have a dual pistol I am not so keen on and a dual blades one too with a dagger. Yes I'm one of those incorrigible altoholics.

my dagger catalyst build works really well, no melee at all on it. I started with turret, but it takes to long to use up rage. Havoc Orb works much better. A little tougher to aim, but a good few spells and then havoc orb to transfer rage gives you some really good ranged damage options.
I do wish the willpower to rage transfer was done a little better. The blackout bar does make me angry for really long fights.
It gets better and better. I like it as well as it is a nice mix between the already mentioned PoE and D3/Grim Dawn etc Games. Lots to do to get to lvl 90 and getting the best Gear. Nice game and i do not regret the buy at all.

I run a dagger/catalyst build as well. Start out by casting Thunderstrike, then Bulwark of Dawn to build up rage, use Wings of Ishmir to engage enemies and Wrath of Baäpheth to finish them off. Throw in a Bleeding Edge on harder mobs. If you need to to cast another spell you can just pop a willpower potion. Mark of Impurity for bosses is handy. I have a lot of Transfer Time decrease between Willpower and Rage on my gear which helps a lot i find.
My experience is melee just does more damage than spells atm. Bleeding Edge may have been nerfed but it still outshines most skills in pure damage terms. The fact you can spec it to cast like a spell and i'd recommend every hybrid build have it in on their skill bar.
I like the game a lot but it needs some more balancing passes at this stage.
My 3 Livor Mortis (morphed to mages) summoner is definitely my main now. Not that far along - level 66 now. I did a build guide for it on Wolcen Universe but for some reason it takes about 24 hrs for it to appear after you save it.
I'll link it here when it decides to become available for linking.

"Fixed an issue causing right clicks on items in the inventory to be resolved as left clicks."
That right there says it all about the state this game was "launched" in.
God that was annoying. Best QOL fix so far lol.

Really like what I've been seeing with this game with improvements. Waiting for a significant Steam sale and will definitely buy when that comes around maybe summer.
Ive definately been enjoying the game. To the op wait till you get to Chapter 2 boss he will really make you want to pull your hair out lol.
He wasn't as hectic as compared to Edric.. I died I don't know how many times on that fight.
It's really like all boss fights: once you know his moves it gets really easy. Same for all 3 end of act bosses. I've done them several times with a whole range of characters, melee, archer, mage, etc.
I even have the Trial by Fire achievement of completing all 3 acts without dying.
Just some tips:
Act 1 boss it's the wave of damage he fires right after he ends his shield fortress in the center that gets you. Roll dodging right at him takes care of that thanks to the iframes when you roll dodge.
Act 2 boss you need to get in the light area that she channels from one spot to another just before blasting the whole screen with fire. After that it's just a matter of roll dodging away from her telegraphed damage areas.
Act 3 it's the third phase that can get you if you don't go into one of the light shield bubbles. If he follows you into one, go to another one
EDIT: just to add another general and unrelated tip it took me a long time to get around to (because the crafting system is kind of confusing) the jeweler can re-roll sockets and it's very cheap. I wouldn't go crazy re-rolling everything but it's definitely worth your time doing it for weapons. All other crafting is more of an end game thing with top tier gear.
Basically for spell based builds you want as many type 2 offensive sockets on the item as the item can have (1, 2 or 3 depending on ltem level) and use + spell damage for your choice of spell type in those. For builds that rely on attacks instead of spells, melee or ranged, you want type 1 offensive sockets.
Attack skills derive a portion of the damage they do from the weapon's damage (how much varies a lot and is shown on the skills page near the middle of the descriptions on the right.) Spells do not do the same from staves so the damage range on a staff is just for basic staff attacks and doesn't increase your spell skill damage at all.

My 1st attempt with Edric was Hybrid build used Livor mortis to tank, which is a pain in ass as the summons are set to aggressive and are uncontrollable.
2nd attempt I went White Arrow melted him as long as you avoid taking dmg.
Still enjoying the game even though it's rather taxing for not having an economy.

I am the very first one to admit what a bad player I am but I always feel so damn good when I beat something without dropping the difficulty from normal. I try and try even if I die a lot but it's when I do it in the end that I am like 'OMG I did it'. It's like when I killed Kitava the first time on the first ever toon I got to that part in POE. I got up and jumped around well more like limped around, I was so excited. I told my son 'your old mum did it', he looked at me like I had grown another head.
For you all who play stuff at harder difficulties beating games on normal is nothing for you and a foregone conclusion but because my reflexes are so poor I am truly excited when I do it. It's euphoric and go around with a smile for half a day.
This patch still did not fix most of the bugs present in the game. It is a good Diablo III clone when it works. Personally I would wait for a patch or two yet, the bugs are still quite frustrating.
Just did him on a level 22 pistol/catalyst with thunderstrike, plagueburst, rain of arrows, the avenger autoturret and Stings of Krearion. I did it thinking I was going to die for sure. Had only one token because while making my way to him I got killed twice lol. I was careless but I had a purple helm and a legendary arm so I was better geared than the mage. I had a lot of ghost modifiers for the stings and the rain a lot projectiles and increased area. The thundestrike actually stunned him. I had not yet gotten flak but I had the one where the turret can move.
It was not an ailment build just a crit build. Kind of fed up with ailment builds. He dropped nothing but yellow items. No unique.
Just play it offline for now. I am not experiencing many bugs at all. Does have a memory leak though so you need to restart your computer occasionally if you're doing long sessions. The combat is quite satisfying, gfx are the best in ARPG land and the camera is far enough out for me unlike POE.
