It's clear the sorts of things I want from this game aren't likely to come in SOD2, but with the next game in the series, which was confirmed to be happening all the way back in June of 2018. Now that I've played SOD2, this is some of what I'd like to see in the next game.

I think my feelings run pretty much along the same lines: I want more depth.

The combat was too shallow to feel much accomplishment or skill when it goes well. The base building was too shallow to motivate me to keep on collecting supplies and upgrading it. The progression of the characters never really seemed to alter them too much, so again not much motivation to keep progressing.

Don't get me wrong, it was still fun, but it was only fun for about 5-10 hours.

The main thing I'd like them to improve is the base building.

I would like free-form placement, so I could build barriers, choke points, gates etc. I would like much more creativity so I can make my place look good as well as being functional. Then more RTS-type elements, so that building my base actually serves a real purpose: can it withstand a zombie attack without me? Can it produce food for the community, or do I still need to be a scavenger? Is it safe enough to support families and children, so that i can start to rebuild humanity?

I honestly want to be able to go alone without gimping myself. I couldn't stand having the AI with me in the first game.

In my opinion, it’s better to do it as in SOD1, and it’s better to work out the plot of the game.

I think more depth is a given learning experience points to upgrade traits or learn new ones.

Fortifying your base and expanding its area rather than finding a new one. Also making the game either a solo campaign or allow online grouping. For me maybe having a limit on 4 - 5 online communities with an option to either add more or move to new territories.

Having bigger rewards if you do a co-OP mission would be cool. And customize your charachter would be good too.

Giving characters that you are not controlling specific jobs while your out doing what you need to do, like scavenging, gardening, fixing etc.

Having other animals and things to change the effect the game has. Also having seasons and having how rain, snow, heat etc. Has an effect on morale. The game has a multitude of things it can make better.

No repeating of missions, weather effects, better maps, better crafting of materials, ability to build another base while occupying another, ability to make tramps, capture zombies and do experiments, mission to find a cure, different kind of zombies

In co-op I want to be able to settle my community in a base on my friends map. This would allow me to have two bases (one in my game, and one in his) to worry about upkeep and to manage.

I can choose which survivors of my team stay at which base.

When I am not playing and my friend is, my base is run by the AI using the survivors I left there.

Each can create quests for the other to complete ("I need more food", "I am pinned down, please send help", "Help me clear out this infestation").

co-op - i think it's perfect as it is, instead of joining random players, join your mates instead as it is better that way, for example if i have progressed so far in SoD2 then i can join my mate who just started and give him stuff to help get started and progress, also for stuff he needs upgrading or needs a skill book for a recruit that has no special skill and of course I expected that you can't help build because it's their campaign/story you can just give advice what to build that benefits their community. The lag however as you mentioned is just your internet really so it is what it is.

Character Customization - is also perfect because each character needs a backstory the skills, traits, bonus and penalties speak for themselves when you learn more them as they will have their own little side story missions to do because it's just accurate. They should for SoD3 have the option to crate your own character, give it's own little background story and choose whatever skill, train etc. For apperance, it makes the game more fun to go round searching for different clothing to choose how you want your community to look, make them look like a gang or ex-special forces or find the right clothes for a certain character to look like other characters from the walking dead, you know what i mean.

Base Building - I think it's just down to you to choose what helps and benefits your base and thinking what can help improve morale. Each slot big or small requires a certain skill like if you're going build upgrades for cars then your gunna need a member of your comunity to have the mechanic skill. Honestly it's all about planning and setting goals on what you wanna do to get you spending hours on it. Just thinking about it the game really get's you thinking and sort of prepare for the real world like if a zombie apoclypse was to happen, obviously it won'y happen but think about it.

I agree on the weather effects, they could do with adding weather penalties and disasters or ever 7 days of surving an effect takes place where the zombies get stronger and there's a swarm of them to make it more challenging.

Some answers and questions we can both agree to disagree but really it get's your mind more open to ideas and thinking differently to I and you see and play the game.
