Rift even have a player base left? Surprised to see this. Last I played it which was years ago, the servers were Damm near abandoned with just a few left. Such a shame what happened to Rift. It was good, for a time.
Same, however i bought a bunch of gametime cards and then they decided to expire them. There was no mention of an expiry date on the case or the cards at all so i lost 4 30 day gametimes cards.
Support just fobbed me off and didnt want to know. I came to the conclusion that they were hard up and were just doing anything they could to get as much money from its playerbase.
Bad decisions ultimately killed the company as defiance 2050 was just a pure money bin to have the players rebuy everything all over again and then some. With the shame of scamming me and many many others out of paid for gametime cards and teh absolute scam of defiance 2050 i just uninstalled and never went back (even after they were bought out) albeit by a mobile game company (going from mobiles these are just swindling, i mean mobile games with their transactions can range from £5 to £200.
well they doubled the amount of xp needed to hit rank 30 and made the so called BP season 3 super grindy to keep small amount of very loyal players busy with same old content they have done many many times before, specially considering the state of the game, it is pointless thing to do, might keep those super loyal players busy and gamigo can milk them some more before closing this shit show down.
There have been two expansions in the last three years...
Can you please provide us with a link to said 2 expansions in the last 3 years? Or were you just referring to battle pass season 1 and 2 as actual content...?

I am pretty sure that is what he meant. There is nothing more to it or just a troll attempt.
Gamigo has always been known for being a shell company where failed games go to die.
They just buy these games up for the cheap and then milk the players that are left completely dry until there is nothing left.
Then shut down, buy up more failed games and rinse and repeat said procedure.
Gamigo has been doing this for years. Like DMKano said, they don't have any game developers whatsoever! Just bare minimum support Personnel to keep said games up and running and a community team to create "fake" carrots on a stick to scam players out of their money.

Didn't Gamigo also acquire Aeria who essentially did the same thing? Do companies that flip games like this actually make money? I can't imagine the 7 whales are giving them their money back.
It takes less than a minute to google information.
On November 11, 2016, Rift released a third expansion Rift 4.0 Prophecy of Ahnket. This expansion added Celestial Lands including 5 new zones; raised the level cap to 70; introduced planar fragments, a system to upgrade fragments through Planar Infusion; and Legendary Powers.[23]
On July 20, 2017, Rift released expansion Rift 4.2 Celestial Storm. This expansion added a new zone to Celestial Lands and four new Primalist Souls.[24]

dude the last content update for rift was 10/25/2017 when they released crusia's claw which was one raid, 2018 no content update, 2019 gamigo bought trion and added nothing new to the game, so far in 2020 nothing new other than battle pass season 3 which is not new content, you basically repeat same old content for extra reward( behind pay wall by the way) and that was it, 2 years and 3 months of no new content, well technically it is still not 3 years, but do not worry with current state of the game it will reach 3 years if gamigo not gonna shut down rift in 2020.
yeah you can get technical with these numbers but it wont change the fact that the game is on maintenance mode and if things go like this it will eventually die and shutdown.
Loved this game at launch and played it a lot. The Cholormancer was one of my favorite healers of all time in any MMO.
To this day no one has done world events better than Rift with its zone invasions - not GW2 nor any other game that came after Rift. That was MMORPG grouping the way it should be done instead of the tired old instances most have (even Rift had that as well) as their only group content.
Sad how now it's just Gamigo milking the dying cow for any drop of milk they can get from it.
