Monthly subscription is what kept me from playing this game. I like how ESO does optional subscriptions so you don't need to spend money every month if you don't want.

I supported ESO's transition to optional sub + DLC. However, Bethesda/Zenimax went overboard with it. It feels like they are taking notes from Dead of Alive 6 with so many DLCs.
I've owned the base game since launch and got the first 4 DLC that come as a bundle as well, but I stopped playing for a while. Now I just saw Elsweyr on sale for $16, it includes the base game, Morrowind and Summerset so i bought it. Since I already owned the base game, this purchase just merged the new DLCs to my existing account for a total of 7 dlcs. There is no way in hell i'm paying regular prices for 18 DLCs. They've gone way too overboard with it.

I thought the same as you and mostly played ESO for over year and wondered why anyone would pay to play a game like FFXIV, but found myself ultimately paying to play ESO anyways.
After I managed to actually really try FFXIV I found I liked it, there are so many things to work on I'll be busy for at least few years.
Waaaah, I don't want to pay for a game!! Waaaaah! Man you freeloaders are annoying. If the game isn't good enough to warrant a sub for you then don't f'ing play it. If it IS good enough and you refuse to pay for it you are just cheap.
For those who just can't afford it, that sucks. But sadly it costs money to run these games, they can't just give it away.
Tried to login, but says account not registered. Checked the account management and only "register" comment is to add a credit card. So clicked the details link above and my eyes began to bleed and brain short circuited. Square Enix has the most ridiculous account management system/front end, so moved on to ESO

ESO had a great monetization model until they introduced Chapters. All chapters are is 1 less free DLC a year, less content in each DLC, and an expensive paid DLC every year. The only reason they call them Chapters is because they can't call them DLC because DLC is free with the sub. It is pretty dishonest.

I would rather buy some games or whatever I could with that money instead.
I played this for 4 or 5 months till the dollar price went up here forcing me to cancel the sub a few years ago.
This isn't a signature, you just think it is.
lol yeah its pain
