Non Vanguard fanbois are entitled to their opinions too

Normally I wouldn't dream of pouring fuel on the fire with this topic but there are "stop talking about the Vanguard SOE now!!" posts coming out that really, really bother me. I'm starting to find out the following about the community of Vanguard (even in these early early days).

1. The community is a tad bit eliteist.  There are a select few who refuse to understand the concept of 'other people's opinions' and try to pass their own as fact.  Just because you're older and have the gift of a large vocabulary doesn't change the fact that people may feel a certain way about something nor does it automatically revoke their right to talk about it 'till the cows come home'.   ( I too have a big vocabulary and I don't like lobster - does that mean you're right and I'm wrong on the topic?)

2. People are entitled to have an opinion about SOE and choose not to play Vanguard based on this one single fact regardless of the amount of information posted on the topic or even the quality of the game past, present or future.

If you ate at a resturant and you liked a particular brand of soup and everytime you went to eat this type of soup someone took a dump in it  you'd be upset if you left that resturant only to find out that said resturant was in any way associated with the new one.

So, please, in a place where people are entitled to speak freely (and with civility) about a particular topic stop playing the role of corporate giant and stop trying to muzzle people's disdain for things. Having said that, people outta be able to back up what they say with a degree of respect and tact tha keeps things 'professional'.

I think everyone is entitled to an opinopn too. I think the reason we suddenly have these "Stop talking about SOE blah blah" post is because it was getting out of hand.

I stopped looking at these forums for a whole week last week because you would come here and there would be NOTHING but "SOE sucks" "Post your SOE horror stories here" "SOE not getting my money" posts completly taking up the entire first page.

This board is to come and discuss the game, not SOE and how they ruined your life. Sure the SOE deal is something to discuss, but we did not need 25 different topics on it. If there had of just been a few where everyone posted in them then fine, people could avoid them if they wanted. But really I came here and litterally had to look for a post that wasn't about SOE.

And just because someone doesn't agree with your 'Opinion' doesn't make them a fanboi. God, that term is starting to become as commonly thrown around as 'Gay'.

A very valid point indeed.  Ithink you should be able to talk about a game and its' cons but the pros shouldnt be snuffed out either....point taken. What bothers me though is that some feel like the  bad should be discarded because they like the game.

My concern though, is that some people in this forum are voicing all too loudly their discontent with a publisher and not that game, which could cloud people's judgement. People that might have fun with it, due to it's features and content, people that I could have ended up playing with. If you have an opinion about the game....whether it be you hating or loving corpse runs, or instances, or hating the character models -- fine. Please, do post, because if you have some information or an opinion about one of these features, I'd like to hear it so I either don't get my hopes up or get more excited.

But...if you are going to make claims about the failure of a game based solely upon it's publisher, you aren't helping me or anyone. You aren't voicing an opinion, you are voicing a prejudice. You haven't played the game, and you aren't commenting on the games known features, you are making a decision about the game, before the fact. It's a different type of fanboism, and either type, I would hope nobody gives much creedence to.

If you drove a car and that car was made %100 by Acme Corp and Acme made you mad you'd consider not driving that model of car and tell your friends about it.  If the car blew up in your face and killed your puppies you'd be really @#$#@ off and REALLY want Acme to know it.

Now many people have left Acme to go to Qwerty corp. If you were eyeing up the new model car Qwerty corp had and all of a sudden, Qwerty decides its going to use Acme tires to drive on and use Qwerty's key system to operate the car you might get a little upset.  The car might be the best one in the world but the fact that the structure of the car is going to be operated on the framework of Acme is disheartening.

Many won't care about the seats or how many MP/G they get or what features there are.

This is the point (not necessairly mine I might add) of those that are upset and its every much as valid as talking about the details of the game itself.  This decision has polarized the community and I think its perfectly valid to drop Vanguard because its being  affiliated (in anyway with SOE) so I see the view point being made.

Having said that, I like Silky venom's stance on the whole topic about the notion of supporting Vanguard despite the fact its being produced by SOE - something worth discussing.
