We had the chance to go hands on with the latest model Talon from PC maker Falcon Northwest. After two weeks testing the PC in real world use, we were not left wanting.

The problem though is in a year that price tag would probably buy you something even more powerful, or a same spec machine for half that cost a year later.
I 've never found it a great idea to go all out, and just buy new every few years.
You are right. As soon as you purchase and pay this amount, within 1 year you are going to have better video cards, processor etc out. That's what I have learned. Best to buy something on the low end for $500 to $600 run your games on high and then within a 1 year or 2 you can just replace it. I used to spend thousands, but realized that the specs get outdated so fast. I agree with you here xpsync.
I would give you a guest pass to SWOTR, but then I wouldn't be able to find a way to live with myself afterwards....

there will never be a 4000 dollar gaming console , but it might be as Powerrfull as a good computer

its just a crazy time for PC right now , since consoles are becoming almost as powerfull
and they cost soooo much less
PC Master race was started because Everything Graphically has always looked Better on the PC , Played better on High end PC's
but this is not going to be the case in the future , consoles will look and Play GAMES just as good as the best PC's and cost 1/4th the Price

Buying $1000 computer that will last you 6-8 years long as you replace a couple of components with better models halfway through its lifespan is cheapest option in the long run.
That's the hallmark of a true piece of hardware. If it doesn't look like a unicorn turd made incarnate in the form of lightwaves i don't think it'll run {insert trending game}.

"checklist"..lol yeah they will have thousands of checklists printed up for a few bucks.Does it start .ok good to go,oh make sure to include that checklist.
The review doesn't compare pricing which is in essence the ONLY thing this revolves around,an installer paid to put the parts together,no different than paying someone to do your breaks.
If the machine is worth 5/6k ,this is a big time paid review,pretty much a 10/10 was given before even opening the box?Then the review is based on reviewing versus itself and no other middle man/pricing.
So how can you say FNW did a 10/10 when you compared it to NOTHING else?Maybe Joe Blow down the street puts this together for 75% the cost?

Yes, they are pricey. Yes, you can build one for much less. Some of us don't want to build PCs. If we can afford it, we want something that is going to last, something with great support, and something that just works. The fact that both my Tikis can fit in a carry on (which I've done along with my Oculus Rift), is amazing.
I do wish every once in a while they would have more substantial sales or something though :-)

I just wish those type of companies would make good quality products/services at the more reasonable 1-thou range too even if not state of the art components.
This is one of those machines one dreams of winning in a contest for sure.
Why does it surprise or shock anyone with these prices? We talk about whales in games everyday that throw thousands at games they enjoy.
Not even talking about the ones that throw thousands at the crowd funded games that may not even ever come out....
For what it is and for who it is for...looks like a great system. Has everything these type of folks want...a top line system with zero worries for a few years with a good warranty.
When the warranty is out you know they will just fork over another 4-5 grand for the next top of the line system with a new warranty. Hell if you have the money to spend on your hobby...spend it the way you want, not like you gonna care what anyone else thinks anyhow:P
I don't understand calling this article tone-deaf, because this PC costs "a lot". Depending on your income this may be very little.
If I go with that logic, this whole site is tone-deaf, because there are people right now living in a dump somewhere in the Philippines barely able to get enough food each day - let alone have time to sit around and play video games.
As far as PC vs Console: I've gone with both for the last decade, as there are often titles I want that are exclusive to one or the other. However, consoles are starting to be a great value option. There is no way I could afford a whole new PC with the specs to run on a 4K tv, but the next gen consoles have this capability at decent frame rates, and will surely be within reach financially.
Consoles are also starting to support more MMO's and AAA RPG's than ever before, which is a total win for me.
