Meh... it started out as one of the deepest character customization ActionRPGs out there (build-wise)... and slowly turned into a space shoot'em'up in swords/magic clothing... with a mini-game (that ignores most of the build options - for the sake of "fairness") stuck in there for access to your advanced classes.
Had a ton of potential, but along with several mind boggling design decisions (no in-game trade system beyond direct person-to-person item transfers), just squandered all of its unique selling points to me, and turned into a horrible experience.

Is this a recent development because when I played 2 years ago it was not at all the way you describe the game. I adored its depth and I myself spent a lot of time theory crafting and posting my own builds to see if it might work. I only left because I was dying and losing far more experience than I was earning.
