This is a prime example why I've never got into PvP even though many enjoy it, especially EVE Online, & just being casual beyond the tutorial, despite all it's beautiful pixels & cool ideas & I still remember how early-on someone(s) at CCP were actually caught helping "buddy" EVE Online players so that was a huge turn-off & proved the intertwining of corruption from real-world into gaming & vice versa. To me, it just isn't a game if I'm going to pay to get "ganked".

Almost every multiplayer game has PVP, this game is just a tiny bit more hardcore. Once you realize that the ship you might lose is really not worth much compared to how easy it is to get another ship it really opens the game up so that it's more enjoyable. Many corps will even give you the isk you lost to help you get another ship. The important thing to remember about this game is don't fly something you can't afford to lose. But the risk of losing something is part of what adds to the excitement of this game!

I seems that, what happened in this story, dosent relate to only "a ship" thought.
I cannot imagine how many hours of work from dedicated people where Destroyed here.

    PvP is shit ...

So if these items have a real world value isn't this theft?

So if these items have a real world value isn't this theft?

    No.

Because you do not "own" anything in a multiplayer game. You have been just granted the right to use it.

That is why you can also be banned in an instant and have no right to get the value of your items back in real world money.

This is why these real world currency comparisons make me chuckle. Who care's how much it's worth in the real world, you'll never see it in your pocket. Just another poor attempt to make the game sound more exciting I guess.

"Second Life" is the only exception i know of ... there is a fixed conversion factor between in game money and real world money ... and you can make a living designing things in game (like fashion or houses) that other players  are willing to buy.

But SL is not really a "game" per se ...

You're giving the very definition of paper money. You don't own it, it's lend to you by the nation who provided it. That's why in my European country or in the US and probably in most country, it's illegal to destroy any paper bill or coin.

And i believe stealing the paper bill of your neighbour is still very much thievery.

So while i don't prononce myself on the initial subject, which, as a side note, i find very interesting, your point can't stand.

"EVE is garbage" is a fact, not an opinion?

    PvP is shit ...

and this is why games like Eve don't appeal to some of us...Work your butt off then someone destroys it or takes it. Forget that.
