Just want to pay my respects if DMKano really has left the site. We didn't always see eye-to-eye on discussions but that is what makes all of us grow if we are willing to have mature discourse, which he often was willing. Insightful individual and I hope him and his family stay safe during these uncertain times.

The whole racism = power and prejudice line is bullshit. No, racism is just prejudice on the basis of race. Power just allows racism to propagate.

Unfortunately, the management here would rather ban Kano for light corporate ribbing while leaving Caffynated and his multiple alt accounts to spew hate speech. Do your jobs better. This would not have been tolerated while Suzy was here.

You all look alike to me.

But back on topic (more or less) the real reason this site is dying is because MMOs are dying.  What is there to talk about or look forward to?  A few indie games that may never see the light of day?  Amazons unappealing game that seems to be floundering around before it even releases?

Maybe DmKano was thinking about leaving the site anyway and the ban just pushed him over the edge.  I know I don't post very often anymore and I frequently ask myself why I even keep coming to this site.

Assuming that that is what got him banned in the first place of course. Combined with some members displaying dubious stances on certain matters could make one decide to pack their bags and leave.

In the end we don’t know so this is all just me speculating, it does seem rather plausible to me though.

Wait, those meme videos that he posted got him banned? The sarcastic/ironic "Brand" ones?

And the Caffynated/random racist/Klash2def threads didn't get any of them banned?

If that is the case, then maybe he is smarter than anyone thinks. The rules are clear. So why aren't the worst offenders being handled? Part of the charm of this site is not having to deal with that bullshit.

See shit like this pisses me off. It's infuriating to be dragged into something that has nothing to do with you. Once again, I will defend myself.

I'm like the only person on this site that stands up to racist bigots and I get called racist for doing so. Other white men (Well into their 60s some of them no its not racist to acknowledge your race its important that i do so.) like to gaslight or whitesplain away everything I say. The same people use microaggressions against me with wtfs all the time for no reason on my comments.. It's always the same group btw. Check the lols and wtfs on this post. It's them. That's what closes threads. Never fails.

I guess that's the price to pay for standing for what's right. I'm okay with that.

What I'm not okay with is you or anybody else lying on me, or implying that I am somehow a racist. You must be out of your fucking mind.

Why you are saying my name next to an open racist? The other person you named is OPENLY racist and has said several racist things towards me and others but for some reason was never banned. I blocked him.

Claims of Black people being racist, also known as reverse racism, often lacks the conversation about the necessity for being able to exercise power and authority, which are essential components of racism.

See, the anti-black guilt complex is so real in America, that if a black person points out CLEAR racism, White people feel attacked. You feel attacked because somebody black exposed you. Instead of face your reality you'd rather accuse your accuser.

Here's the funny thing though, If you knew I was white, and I said the same things, (called out racism) you wouldn't call me racist. It wouldn't make sense because it's not. It only makes sense to you because you think reverse racism works. It doesn't.

You believe in the "Reverse Racism" myth but you are hilariously mistaken. By definition, I can't be racist because in order for me to be racist it would mean I have the ability to OPPRESS you because I am part of a power structure that systematically and institutionally rewards Blackness. No such thing exists in America. LMFAO. White people are not and have never been Oppressed by Black people or any people in America.

So NO I am not racist.

But I wonder............. WHO CAN BE racist? I mean Is there a power structure that systemically and institutionally rewards whiteness for years even still till this day? Does such a place like that exist? Does it start with A and end with A?

    Interesting!

Oh but you say I'm racist. It's laughable how stupid of a statement that is.

Not only that, but there is also no evidence of me being such. I have screenshots of every racial remark made towards me. Trust me I can expose some of you for the filth you are. I'm saving it for my magnum opus. Every time it happens I screenshot and put it in a folder on my desktop. I don't forget.

I've never once encouraged hate, promoted hate, promoted racism.

If I am guilty of anything it's pointing out the gross amounts of racism and general anti-black attitudes that some people seem to think they can get away with here. I am attacked for it, gaslit, met with all forms of disrespect for calling it out. I've even had people make alt accounts just to attack me. It's kind of hilarious. Sad too.

So on this site, with ME, The Threads become victims of a bunch of white men (some who are well into their 60s) trying to score points off the only black person in the room. They never score a damn thing though, only made to look like the racist they really are.

I do not care who likes it, its true.

Don't assume because I'm seemingly alone here, I'm an easy target. I'm not.

I'm well equipped to deal with any aggro from any of you. I don't care. I've already said before, ZERO TOLERANCE FOR RACISM. Any form of it. Mirco, Covert, Overt. I don't care.

If people Keep saying racist shit, then I'm going to keep exposing people for filth. Period.

    Stop lying on my name.

It's Sad to see @DMKANO go because there are other people that should be banned for saying way worse shit than he's ever said. Just like ALL the other companies doing a clean up right now, this place ALSO needs a cleanup, but make sure you target the right people.
Jesus Christ, this is one the reasons this site has been declining in numbers(of course lack of mmorpgs too). No one wants to hear this drivel in a forum about mmorpgs. I've been banned multiple times over the years though due to calling out shitty games for what they were; id assume some fanboi mod would drop the hammer, but what we don't need is someone spewing that everyone is racists.

I am not going to get into the whole hypocrisy thing.

Instead i will focus on one thing >>>"communication".Why was this handled with no communication? That would be the SIMPLEST form of operating a website with it's users.

Why was this handled with no communication, why the iron fist?Does that same person enjoy being ruled with an iron fist,we might as well all stop talking if that is the case.

    Choices?
1 remove thread until communication happens.

said person was what lazy, didn't feel Kano deserved an explanation?Guilty first then come begging to the  CM manager? Is that how we treat each other in 2020?

I have been on the internet 40 years,i have NEVER blocked a single person.Does that say i am more mature ,more tolerable or do i simply have more common sense to understand what really matters in life?

To be honest,i didn't even understand that thread or the videos.Just on a vague glance they appeared to be a form of humor but idk.I do know this,if a video breaks ANY law ,You Tube will remove that video so fast it will make your head spin.So the fact those vids were there to be copy/pasted says there is nothing wrong there.

So then why did said person decide to take it upon him/herself to decide guilty right away?

The death of the MMORPG has certainly been the largest contributor. Despite that, a lot of us, myself included, stayed for a community that we knew. And some of us, myself included, appreciate the shift to more relevant RPGs in general. But as old posters leave/get banned and poor moderation gives ad bots, trolls, and hate speech free reign, the once chill community aspect of these forums is also dying. I can't blame anyone who wants to leave under the circumstances.

I wouldn't call that the target demographic of the website per say. It's just because, as a largely dead/irrelevant genre, the MMORPG happens to have an older, often more conservative niche audience. Not a whole lot of youth here.

meh I was banned for calling a whole game stupid, but the mods though I was calling another forum user.

problem with mods here is always they really don't bother to read, they skip over it read maybe the flag then toss the hammer, now if they really worked on banning the bots here that would be a nice start

    Prove me wrong.

Prove you wrong? Lightwork ("Easy" for the uninitiated)

    Whitesplaining always starts with

"To Play Devils Advocate" or "I just wanted to point out"

It's easier to deal with when you know what to look for.

Dude, did you read this before you wrote it?

"I only want to point out that racism only requires that one believes their “race” (Always confused me since we’re all the same friggin race) is superior to anotherThe act of oppression is not.
    -@childoftheshadows

    HUH??????????????????????

NO, Belief isn't enough. Actions are what make Prejiduce, turn into racism.

What you are talking about is called Prejudice. Not Racism. 2 Different concepts with similar characteristics.

In America, Oppression is a form of or result of RACISM-(Social-Economic Action) based on White Superiority- (Prejudice)

Prejudice refers to a positive or negative evaluation of another person based on their perceived group membership. Racism on the other hand refers to social actions, practices, or beliefs or political systems that consider different races to be ranked as inherently superior or inferior to each other.

Racism is socio-economic, with systemic structures that promote one race’s powers over another. Socio-economic being the operative word, I am certain you will agree that black people do not have the resources to impose such oppressive structures that enforce their superiority. White people on the other hand have, and had imposed them on blacks for over four centuries of slavery and colonialism. Black people can be prejudiced, but not racist since we hold little power to enforce discrimination against another group.

This is factual, I don't care what you want to believe so that you feel better about your place in the world. No, it is not possible to be racist without any actual power. Racism is rooted in power. You fail to see this because you are a benefactor of the power of racism. AKA "Privilege"

No, we are not all the same race...  you are being willfully obtuse and purposefully replacing Race and Ethnicities with SPECIES because you thought you would score a point off me. In reality, though, you sound like one of those "I don't see color" people which is the most backward thing ever IMO.

"COLOR" is just another term for "Race and Ethnicities". You not seeing that or acknowledging it speaks a lot about your character. Its a form of erasure. Everyone should see race and respect that there are other people different than you are. That's the beauty of being part of the Human Species. Human is not a race. Saying so helps to erase the years of mistreatment that minorities have faced around the world, especially in America. It allows America to act like it never happened and absolves it of Responsibility. Its why they tell us to forget Slavery but remember the holocaust. Only one of those happened in America btw.

America has never owned responsibility for its shitty history. That's why all this is happening now, the kids are ripping all the band-aids off.

Its another form of gaslighting intended or not. Online Racism denial/Gaslighting (like what I've been fighting against/Exposing for years on this site to no avail) is the same as denying it in the OFFLINE real-life Government like refusing to name the KKK an active terrorist group for over 100 years.

That means its part of the social oppression of African Americans.

Which makes it racist. Not that hard to understand.
This is the problem with people on the internet. All you have to do is look up a definition and yet you still insist on making it up as you go.

    Oxford states:
prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.

    webster:

Look up as many definitions as you want.

It’s infuriating that people will twist the meaning of a word to fit their argument.

By conventional English usage, "you're a racist" usually just means "I hate you".  The advantage to using the first formulation rather than the second is that if I say "I hate you", it makes it sound like I'm a bad person.  If I instead say "you're a racist", it makes it sound like you're a bad person.  There are a number of other words besides "racist" that are used in about the same way.

Klash2def is definitely not racist. I understand that many dumb fucks on this site are convinced that klash is racist and that he is the problem, but you are gravely mistaken.

1: Klash has only defended himself and spoken out against racism and bigotry.

2: as was already made clear, racism involves some form of oppression from one group of people to marginalized peoples. Oppression is a requisite of racism. Without the oppression component, it’s bigotry and prejudice, but not racism. And don’t quote some Merriam Webster dictionary whose definition is outdated. And don’t say ‘prove it’ because you all should be old enough to do your own research. There’s plenty of scholarly resources out there to begin educating yourselves.

I know this post post isn’t going to lead to a moment of clarity for many of you who are too closed minded and too lazy to challenge your own conventional thinking. I realize that nothing I say will lead to a moment of enlightenment. I’m not saying this for you. I’m saying this because it’s what‘s right.

I think that the real moral of the story here is that the "no politics" rule was there for a reason.  Arguments about politics tend to turn into flame wars, which is exactly what you don't want.  That's still true even if the threads were started by moderators or as news posts.  "Game company makes political statement" is a story about politics, not gaming.  And if the people running the site are allowed to make such threads, everyone else is likely to think that they can, too.

But this is a solvable problem, and the solution isn't even that hard:  go back to the "no politics" rule, and stop running news stories that are fundamentally about politics and not gaming.

I did. Maybe challenge yourself to look beyond the first definition you come across. Maybe put in a little more time and effort to fully understand the concept. Racism is more complex than a couple of sentences that are written in an outdated source.  Maybe dig a little deeper and get a little uncomfortable. That’s where growth occurs, in that area of discomfort.

Or stay stagnant. Doesn’t matter because this is not about you and I’ve spent too much time making it about you.

Yeah, you had to because you don't know what it is yourself. I don't need a book written in 1830 something to tell me what racism is.

You have to do that because you don't have the experience to fall back on. I do. Big difference.  You do not understand it at the level I do and you never will. It's not my job to teach you, you have access to the same information I do, and no it's not a dictionary.

Think about what you did. You went a fucking dictionary to find the answer to racism.

A deeply complicated topic, that you feel can be answered by a dictionary definition.

Man boomers are really something. 10 more or so years left of this bullshit....

Klash2def is definitely not racist. I understand that many dumb fucks in this site are convinced that klash is racist and that he is the problem, but you are gravely mistaken.

1: Klash has only defended himself and spoken out against racism and bigotry.

2: as was already made clear, racism involves some form of oppression from one group of people to marginalized poeples.

I’m saying this because it’s whats right.

Klash and everyone else that understands the pervasiveness and malignancy of racism and to those who want to do something about it, I stand with you.
I just posted the literal definition. Maybe check it out.
I did. Maybe challenge yourself to look beyond the first definition you come across. Maybe put in a little more time and effort to fully understand he concept. Racism is more complex than a couple of sentences that are written in an outdated source.  Maybe dig a little deeper and get a little uncomfortable. That’s where growth occurs, in that area of discomfort.
That’s every definition. The only time that’s not the definition is when someone wants to claim that they can’t be racist because they can’t oppress. I doubt anyone in this website holds any power to actually oppress anyone so by that fake definition no one on here can be racist.

Try educating yourself instead of only following your feelings. Definitions exist for a reason.

I have to write up a COVID-19 newsletter for my office. Used to be every day and thankfully it's now twice per week.

I consistently have to avoid COVID-19 stories that intertwine with politics. Some of them would make sense to include but it's important that I steer away from politics for fear of pissing someone off and then it would be a whole discussion and it would also look like the company was taking some "sides" by the inclusion of the story.

A good friend of mine is a Libertarian and I'm Liberal. We never talk politics. Works out better that way.

Sometimes it's better to just not talk about inflammatory subjects.

Just googled "racist definition" and top 4 definitions (stopped reading at 4, could be all of them).  None of them say anything about power/oppression being required to be a racist.

No, you need to educate yourself. Its not a surface level issue you can just read in a dictionary. The fact that you think it is, is exactly why we are in this shit now in our country.

I was right. Everything I said was true, I don't care who likes it, and I don't care whos comfortable. I'm not looking to make friends with older white men. I don't give a damn what you think, I'm just telling you, that I'm not going to tolerate racism on this site.

If I see it, I'm calling it out. Period. I'm done being nice and trying to explain my position to a room of people looking to misunderstand me.

What's really crazy is more people are ATTACKING ME than the actual people who said racist shit right in front of their faces. They would rather condemn me for calling out the racism but not the people actually committing the racism. Amazing.

Great argument! Way to dig deep and challenge yourself.

If all the great scholars of the world knew this powerful secret that you could just ‘google’ a topic and cite the first 4 sources as their unbiased research, then they wouldn’t have to spend so much time actually doing real research. No more wasting time on needless science. What a breakthrough!

This is what I mean. Boomers really are fucking stupid.

Do you think a dictionary created in 1800s would mention the oppression of black people?

Do you think that if it's not in a dictionary then it must not be true?

That's your meter for truth? a fucking dictionary from the 1800s?
