A few friends at college got me to "go try warcraft again" as I left sometime ago, however in the last few weeks it's been nothing but a login , downserver, nightmare. As I left at the start and now come back, nothing seems to change. People really deal with this constant downtime? it just amazes me that people are ok with this just to play this game. In no shock or lost to most, I cancelled soon after, I just don't get how service like this is being accepted.. then again, it's warcrap and I guess that says it all.

Am I venting? yeah a bit, but then again  I am curious if any felt and done the same thing I have, I hear "millions play!" but I don't see it.

They say millions subscribers...that means people like me and you...that quit.  Game is way to bland for my taste and the community just ruins the experience for me.  I just cancelled my account for the 3rd time now.

WoW is a good game, it just needs a few fixes and it will be a great game...

    - improve world PvP
    - fix servers so barely any lag and those log in issues
    - bgs queues suck.. they should mix servers so that u get into battlegrounds easier
    - fix the community.. somehow..

I've read that in several different places as well.  To calculate their subscribers WoW includes all inactive accounts, and since their inactive accounts currently are not being deleted after a set amount of time, the total subscribers that WoW is claiming are all accounts ever created since the game launched.  The actual number I would guess is around 50%-75% of what they claim.

WORLD OF WARCRAFT® REACHES MORE THAN

    ONE MILLION CUSTOMERS IN EUROPE

Total worldwide population for Blizzard Entertainment®'s massively

multiplayer online game now more than 5.5 million customers

    Irvine, California - 19 January, 2006 - Blizzard Entertainment, Inc.'s World of Warcraft®, the world's
leading subscription-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game, has surpassed the one million customer
milestone in Europe, more than quadrupling the previously estimated size of the entire European MMORPG market
since its launch in February 2005. In addition, World of Warcraft topped the sales charts* for full-price PC
games in Europe last year. Worldwide, the game has a growing audience of more than 5.5 million customers.

"It is extremely rewarding to see so many European players enjoying
World of Warcraft," said Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of
Blizzard Entertainment®. "The players have supported our belief in the
European MMORPG market, and we thank them for helping us make World of
Warcraft one of the most popular games in the world."

Available in English, French, and German in
Europe, World of Warcraft is operated by Blizzard's local European
office. Established in late 2003 and already comprising more than 400
employees and 22 different nationalities, Blizzard Europe - the
second-largest Blizzard office in the world - has expanded rapidly to
keep pace with the growth of World of Warcraft in Europe.

World of Warcraft has steadily grown in
popularity around the world since its initial launch in North America,
Australia, and New Zealand last November. Following successful launches
in Korea, Europe, China and Singapore, World of Warcraft launched in
the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.

    World of Warcraft's Customer Definition

World of Warcraft customers include individuals who have paid a
subscription fee or purchased a prepaid card to play World of Warcraft,
as well as those who have purchased the installation box bundled with
one free month access. Internet Game Room players that have accessed
the game over the last seven days are also counted as customers. The
above definition excludes all players under free promotional
subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired pre-paid
cards. Customers in licensees' territories are defined along the same
    rules.

I don't know how they hold on to so many with an end-game as bad as theirs is...

Most of the players are MMORPG noobs so its pretty easy for them not to get dissapointed in the game. I for one am not all that impressed in end game. If they made it so that a small guild could at least attempt to compete in pvp and not need to raid MC/BWL for gear I would be happy. The problem with wow is to much of the game depends on raiding they need to give the casuals a way out and if the raiders want cool uber PvE raid gear let them have it. I want kick ass pvp gear and pvp options I like WoW pvp just sucks being outgeared and if your not in an end game guild good like getting in one especially if your a certain class like a rogue.

I presume you must have been very unlucky with your server choice.

I can't remember having any login problems with my server (EU Bronzebeard) over the last few months. Even when I have had problems, they were normally only on nights when game updates went live.

I also don't seem to ever experience queueing - despite my server showing up as being "Full" on the server list.

My two accounts have been closed for three months. I might try again when they allow server transfers. They now "claim' it will start this summer, until then, I've been playing Diablo 2 and having a lot more fun, and it's free.

I haven't had any major problems since January or so.  Sometimes it's a bit laggy during peak hours. Yesterday was the first nigth in many months that I saw Windrunner down for maintenance, other than that, I can't say I have problems connecting to wow.  Very reliable for the most part in my experience.
