Has anyone heard anything from Mythic on whether they'll be including any PVE raids in the game? I really, really hope they don't pollute what looks to be a great game with that kind of stuff, but they did release TOA for DAOC. My preference would be for there to be no PVE raids whatsoever in the game, though I don't mind them as long as you don't get better gear for doing them than you do for content that I enjoy.

If you look at DAoC's site, the most popular server is the no-raiding Classic server. I can't imagine that Mythic didn't learn something from that.
Having your endgame be 100% raiding is actually more work for a developer - you have to either release an expansion every 15 minutes like Everquest, or have your players that burn out in a year and cancel, like WoW. A good PvP endgame, that can go on forever.
All that said, Mythic has not officially commented on the PvE raid issue.
I agree, Im 100% for PVP (RVR) endgame > I honestly hope its like the old days of DAoC before TOA, and the new frontiers, the best time of my playing career in DAoC, I garentee Mythic has learned like some of you said from their past mistakes, and im sure their putting all of their knowledge to make this game one of the greats!
Well Dowie, the important thing for me would be 'not required' - they can have whatever amount of raids they want to spend time on, but if I feel like I'm going to need to get even one piece of gear from a raid, I'm not interested in the game.
LOL at Senden, who clearly didn't read the OP before responding.
there has to be something for the ebil carebears.. i gues
Or maybe you could get some other items from raiding, like money, respecstones (ala daoc), trophys for your house and maybe even something you can put ut for visual on your armor. Might even make the bosses so hard that if you kill the boss you will get a title. Just dont let raiding ruin RvR and im happy.
Mythic has said that they are going to have Raid content but it'll be quite a bit dfferent than the raiding we're used too.
It'll be RvR raids. Example, raiding the opposing sides capital city and looting it. I'm sure they'll add more RvR raiding as the development continues so that'll be something to look forward too.
Mythic is doing everything they can to blur the lines between PvE and PvP content and I think that's a good thing. I've never been a PvPer but I'm truely excited about this game. Everything I've heard has got me wanting WAR NOW!
Cheers
Yeah, I'm interested in large-scale PVP, that's a whole different ball of wax than getting a big mob of people to play on a schedule, follow a script to kill a boss, then check the accounting system for who has the DKP to get whatever drops, then repeat 495852 times to gear up to kill the next one, all the while laughing because your PVE script-following abilities give you advantages against anyone who prefers to spend their time playing against humans.
As one who does not care for PvE raiding and avoids PvP, I am looking forward to Warhammer. DAoC has come the closest to getting player conflict right.

Smokey - the original carebear.
I love PvP, its great, but when Im having a massive bad day I turn around and go beat on some mobs, I think to get this right the PvE rewards should not be as good as the PvP rewards, good yes but not the best.

At E3 a few Mythic employees hinted that they were shooting for more 1-2 group sized content. Now whether they were refering to DAoC or WAR I don't really remember but I imagine they meant for both. Then of course comes the next logical question... what's a group in WAR? (to which I have no answer)
DAoC - Mentalist TL + Tons of other Toons
There are plenty of mmorpg that cater your RAIDING/PVE needs.. so maybe pick one of those?
... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!
I've watched the trailer at least 20 times now, it's that exciting.

At this moment in time I am playing WoW, and will play the expantion until WAR comes out, Ive played through DAoC, Horizons, FF XI and L2 so Ive pritty much figured out what I like and what I dont.
As for going to find a mmorpg for my needs Im sure I can wait for WAR just to build them up.
