Well when discussing games i simply look at what is a game doing, options from other games in the same genre. So this is basically like UO,a lot of people liked UO.
You can build a house anywhere, can you do that in Wow ..NO.
The games uses skill points,i endorse that design, not so much the point allotment but the skill-up idea i endorse.
So i look over my options, there is basically two options.. 1 UO,FFXI,EQ1 and a couple others, perhaps Saga of Lucimia..Pantheon? 2 Wow,Eq2,GW2 and MANY others that play the same way.
So Shards/Aria falls into a category where my beloved FFXI is stationed.Obviously to me there is no chance Aria wins me over but Aira does offer anywhere housing options that FFXi does not. I still feel too many studios make the mistake of trying to compete in a market there is no room for them to enter.I don't think there are enough people that would play Aria over UO or EQ1 or FFXi.On top of that we have incoming Saga and Pantheon and both those games are going to struggle to get enough of an audience.
My long winded point is that Aria isn't real bad for trying to do what it does,it is simply like #5/6/7 on a list that is already the smaller side of the mmorpg genre.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
