Sorry but if you are charging a sub you are launched... regardless of if you call it Alpha, Beta, Omega or anything else

Sub seems fair to be honest; that is if the game is good.

Good to see reasonable pricing.  This game is my current most anticipated project.  However, I'll still wait for the actual launch before I'm interested in cash exchanging hands.

Will never pay for a sub in a MMO again. Those days are long gone.

More a freedom to build a universe with other players. Or you can choose to break what others have built.

I like the game but a sub for beta? ROFL. Its launch, period.

No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.

I dont really mind paying to play the beta as long as they dont wipe everything when the game "launches".

Hasn't been stated, but I don't believe they promised no more wipes, so this is more of a sub to beta test as I see it.

I use the no more wipes criteria to call a game launched as so many are taking cash in from inception in some cases.

Good point. Shit is so confusing nowadays as words are meaningless.  I miss the good old days where things were fairly clear and consistent.

    Such a misleading title...

    https://www.dualthegame.com/en/news/2020/07/06/dual-universe-faq-beta-release-pricing-strategy-and-more/

    7. Will you be allowing players to buy only 1 month of game time at Beta launch, or in the future? (vs. 3, 6 and 12 announced)

It is possible that we will offer this option at some point during Beta, or after launch, as a way to make the game even more accessible. We think that with a price of $6.99 (or €6.99) per month, however, a 3-month pack already offers a fairly low point of entry to discover what the game has to offer.

Does not matter what 1 month costs if you have to buy 3 or more to get to play does it?

As far as i can find you need to pay 60 for a pledge (lowest one i found) right now. After beta starts dunno. No where was it said other than above what was going on, for the real price you have to pay to start playing.

$6.99 a month does not seem to mean much right now...is it buy to play with a sub?
  • volttvoltt Member UncommonPosts: 432
The sub price seems really good. Sounds like I don't need to buy a base game but just pay the sub. 6.99 to try it for a month to see if I like it or not. It's a no brainer for me I'll give it a whirl

So, will the next thing be subs for alpha, or will you have to start subbing at the moment a developer conceives of an idea?
Don't be silly, alpha will require a first born donation.

The thing is nowhere the sub for me, the game is nowhere ready for going beta, it's really raw and underwhelming compared to games of the type, visually and feature/mechanic-wise. It's a great idea for the game but hell does it need more and better.

So is it open world PvP? Does that even apply? Or is it focused on destroying creations rather than other players? Or both?

How did the gaming world go from people helping and doing free beta testing to having to pay a subscription to test a beta game for a company?

Only gamers can stop this nonsense.

It's up to you to do your part and STOP PAYING TO PLAY UNFINISHED GAMES!

It's Eve online with voxels. You can create anything you want, but painfully slow and convoluted crafting mechanics which requires an army of worker ants to pull anything of size together.

No.. much more lucrative to charge hundreds or even thousands for Alpha Access all in one lump sum.

Alpha in this game will only set you back $120   That's a great deal compared to others!

I've yet to stick with any F2P mmo for more than a month or 2. MMOs with subs, on the other hand, I've stuck with (albeit on and off) for years.

How long has it been since F2P mmo models have hit the scene? Can anyone name any of those early games, and better yet, claim they are still playing them? I doubt it.

People that refuse to pay subs for mmos, for whatever reason, are also refusing to acknowledge the many years of 'proof in the numbers' statistics that the mmos that require subs are flat out better and retain their player bases for much longer.

WoW, FFXIV, EVE, GW2 (B2P but included because you pay for it), and I'll even include SWTOR because its F2P model might be the worst in the industry.....name me a F2P mmo that has a higher pop than any of these games that have a sub attached.
