Well as some might know there is a new Intel processor(the Pentium D 805) that is supposedly the King of the overclocking. I've read a part of toms hardware test on its overclocking capabilities and they say it is one of the best because it has a *20 multiplier. From what I understood the multiplier is the reason between the processor speed and the front side bus speed. And also, from what I undestood in order to overclock it you had to increase the FSB speed. With just a minor increase (from 133mhz to 150 or 160) the processor speed would go from 2.66Ghz to 3.2Ghz. In that test they said it was really easy and nearly risk-less to do this, and with this increase in Ghz this 130$ processor would be faster and cheaper than a P4 630(3.0Ghz). The only problem is: I didn't understand how they do this increase in the FSB speed. Could someone explain it to me? Is there some kind of program that you install and it then lets you increase the FSB speed?
Hope someone can shed some light on me.
P.S. Oh, and they said you need a new fan, and the original one wasn't strong enough with the CPU overclocked...

I also don't usually mess around with OC but it seems a too good chance to be ignored. And yes, you need a Zalman for this, or so did Toms Hardware say... They only said you'd need watercooling at 4.0Ghz+... and just a curiosity:
They managed to OC it up to 4.3Ghz, by that time Windows wouldn't boot.... So a 2.6Ghz cpu made 4.2Ghz... I'd say thats nice, but surely not for everyone

FYI Coming from an ITS professional, I would not mess with overclocking your machine unless you are willing to pay the consequences of doing damage to it. Which happens easier than most think.

your probably like me when i had my old computer, dont care what happens couse its a piece of crap and want to find out how to do it
IF YOU FUCK UP ITS NOT MY FAULT YOU TAKE ALL RESPONSIBILITIES WHEN READING THEN DOING THIS.
PLEASE read everything before doing
and please use common sence when doing this dont go up too high at one time
1. restart your computer and enter the bios (press the delete key while booting)
2. navigate to your front side bus, vcore voltage, cpu clock and the like now here is where it begins
3. go to your front side bus and edit it, when you edit it go up by maybe two or three megahertz (if you are experienced and know what your doing you can go up by 5 or 6 megahertz) now save and exit, if you cant edit the front side bus in your bios, your bios doesnt support overclocking (this means no chance in you ever overclocking using that motherboard unless they come out with an updated bios that does support it)
4.now go on majorgeeks.com and download some stress tests such as this one and run it for about 15 - 30 minutes, if your computer freezes, go back into the bios and find the vcore voltage, raise this up by .02 or .03 volts and save and exit. reapeat this step untill it doesnt freeze while running the test.
Repeat this process for higher clock speeds.
Also you might want speed fan to see how hot your cpu is getting, if it becomes hotter then 70 degrees celsius, its going to get fried very soon, so try to keep it under 50 at idle. If itgets hotter then dont overclock by anymore.
You overclocked you cpu.
Now you might want to overclock your ram too for it to keep up with your cpu so your computer doesnt bottleneck, but this is a whole different story.
May not be the best tutorial but it gets straight to the point without getting technical, if you want a technical tutorial on the other hand go to ocforums.com they have a really good tutorial there and really helpfull info.
