Now is the best time to build. Also on your computer. It looks good for the price. The only caveat I see would be the memory. Only 16 gigs. Not a big deal depending on your usage. I can use all of 32 gigs on my machine, but 16 gigs may be adequate for your workload.
If you can wait until the end of the year, we should get next generation of GPUs from both AMD and NVidia and Ryzen 4000 CPUs.
It might mean waiting closer to 6 months for stuff to be released and available, though.

There's a decent chance for each launch that we'll get them in Sept/Oct, but I was talking also about the GPU launches that are likely coming by the end of the year. You'd be just setting yourself up for disappointment if you trusted that everything will launch and be available by the end of October.

First step is just having stability again and not feeling technically inadequate lol.
I've always been the guy who fixes simple and complex computer problems for friends and family so not being able to upgrade my own Win10 install past version 1511 for months despite trying everything I could think of and these weird disk issues I can't seem to find a solution for, have both humbled me and annoyed the living shit out of me.
After I've regained some peace of mind I'll think about what I want to play once I'm comfortable I can install new things and reboot without having to wrestle with my system to get it to work at all.
I may jump back into ESO. I've been thinking about it lately as something to play until I devote 100% of my gaming time to Cyberpunk 2077

My main motivation for thinking about upgrading now is really my old MB that hasn't had support for several years, has somewhat flaky SATA controler (I have several drives that disappear in Win10 although just shutting down and rebooting brings them back... so far) and is stuck on Win10 1176 and just refuses to upgrade no matter what I've tried.
He doesn't need to replace the CPU or GPU yet. He could get a nice X570 mobo only or something akin to tie him over a few months. Seems like he could make do for a few months based on how he is making it work right now....

Yeah I considered all that. The case and GPU were the only parts that I could safely use with a new build. The PSU is a good Corsair (re-branded Seasonic) one but also more than 10 years old. It has been through 2 builds already and must be close to end of life. For all I know the MB problems I'm currently experiencing could be partly caused by a dying PSU.
But reusing the case and GPU would mean I'd have to commit to building myself, which now that I'm almost 71 I have a hard time doing, or going with a local parts reseller and assembler and I could not find one of those near me that I trust enough to use.
The ones I used for decades and had a good relationship with, the local brick and mortar versions of NCIX,COM, went bankrupt a couple of years back.
I know I'm paying a bit of a premium doing it the way I'm doing it but it's worth it to me.

yes, the new AMD GPUs will probably launch in November, but the new CPUs will be in September.
