Xbox or Play Station?

I've got a lot of free time at the moment, so I was considering trying something I haven't done in years:  console gaming.  I'm a little sick of sitting in front of the computer.  I generally like turn-based RPGS and other laid back experiences.  I'm not into FPS at all.

Which would you guys recommend for a Newegg order, an Xbox or a Play Station?

Also, any particular games you recommend?

Thanks!

Playstation is definitely where all the turn-based JRPGs are now...well, the obscure ones at least.  Persona 5 is a great PS exclusive RPG to start with.

JRPGs are Japanese and most of the games would be found on PlayStation like the spectacular Persona 5  but Nintendo too has great games.

Playstation has somewhat better turn based RPGs.

But have you considered just using TV as your computer monitor and then playing with a controller? You don't need to buy a separate gaming console for that, just a long enough cable to connect stuff.

Xbox won last round. With Play Anywhere move Microsoft has made and a real functional stream service, the two together will net more customers and developers. My guess Microsoft will win this round again.

If you already have a gaming PC I'd go with playstation, as the PS is going to have more exclusives that aren't on PC.

My nephews have both (and PC), between xbox and ps they prefer playstation.

You know next generation is coming out, so you might want to hold off.

Playstation, and it's not even close. They actually respect stories and roleplaying games.

Buying either right now would be a waste. Since this sounds like a "bored and I have some disposable income" investment, either wait for next gen or get a switch.

The eternal contest, like Coke v Pepsi, or Mets v. Yankees.

Play Station has Monster Hunter. Worth considering.

EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

I would say XBox this time around due to how they deal with modding.

    My advice is to wait-

I've spoke about this before as I'm someone who has always owned a Playstation (along with my computer) because the exclusives are often amazing games- Worth the price of the console to me.

However, its looking like many of the exclusives are either being ported to PC or will be- For instance, I would say Persona 5 is certainly going to be on Steam in the near future.

This will be the first generation that I'm holding off-

Certainly dont waste your cash on an Xbox.
