Well i wrote something down already then figured ,i should just Google it to find out if my hunch was correct and it is more than correct.
So right away this is nothing more than a cost saving change. Then i thought that they must be seeing a large drop in profits. So then another thought "lul"how can a dev with an already low budget game be worried about nickle and diming.

So then all this lead me to believe they must have at least 1 maybe more investors taking all their profits and or pushing for larger profits.

Well Google showed me my answer>>>TENCENT.Tencent owns a huge share of this game, almost 87%.

So yeah i do not believe this is anything more than number crunching, not only micro transactions but micro managing the profits.

Personally i went back to check out the game last year and was surprised at how bad the graphics are,i thought i remembered them looking better. So for such huge profits the previous years i would have expected by now an engine update,MUCH better graphics and with a new engine better tech, new design ideas making for an overall better game.

However just like i wondered the same about CCP making multiple millions off Eve and seeing no upgrade,it tells me these devs/owners are just so greedy they would not even think about investing back into the game or giving their supporters a better product.

    how is ggg greedy?

They operate on a pure no p2w f2p game with only cosmetics and storage in the shop. Which you do need to fully enjoy 100% of the games content.

They release more content then any other game of its type by about 5 fold.

Game actually has complex systems and depth unlike garbage games like diablo 3.

So i highly disagree with that statement.

As for graphic yea they are not state of the art... but gameplay > graphics. And this gameplay wise is so far ahead of it competition it is not even a contest.

I'd say that their loot boxes are disgusting and their prices are high. Both of these enabled Chris Wilson and his partners to cash in to China. But as you said there are no P2W elements and I'm not a completest and so I can accept it. I just spend a lot less than I otherwise would due to their pricing and the fact that I'd no longer be supporting an indie studio.
As far as gameplay goes, their combat fluidity, animations and art are below average at this point. POE 2 will likely improve on them. I think the game is massively bloated at this point as they have this need to keep carrying over league mechanics. It sure seems like they cater to the 1%(in terms of money spent and hours played). It's worked well for them though so why change it.

ill say this, I have logged well over 1000 hours on PoE. I have spent about 30-40$ on the in game shop, bank upgarde, trading tabs, ect. As far as I am concerned, it was money well spent, what 4cents an hour entertainment ? The game has had it issues, and bloat, but I have never seen a company pump out content as quickly as GGG, and the game has more depth then any other I have played, always something to work towards.

GGG still operates independently and has complete design control over their game.

Hey guys I googled some stuff and have it all figured out!!

You also clearly have no idea what goes into upgrading a games entire engine. If only it were as easy as clicking a button like it is in your fantasy world.

The hamsters union is very particular. You can just get any old hamster to run in the wheel, it has to be a union hamster, and that means benefits, retirement, and a whole set of rules that you have to follow.  Trust me. I know what goes into upgrading games.

So, I am just going to correct you here. GGG has made multiple improvements to the engine. New lighting engine, new shadows, better water shaders, they fixed most of the lag issues that could accidentally get you killed as well as frame stutters during some skills (not saying all lag issues are fixed, just most of them.). This upcoming patch is also coming with a lot of improvements to the game that also fix most of the frame stuttering when using a skill repeatedly at a fast pace. They released a demo of it on their YouTube channel. Not to mention they are working on the Path of Exile 2 update coming to the game which completely revamps the entire graphical engine of the game. Improved textures, updated character models and animations, new skills, etc. So to say GGG has never upgraded the game means you haven't done your research.

As for the Tencent, you seem like the kind of person that sees "Tencent" and instantly assume the game has gone down hill instead of actually looking up the purchase information on those shares as well as the contract. GGG still has complete creative freedom over the game. It's passive income for Tencent at this point.

Also, the game is not losing profits or players. If you look at the steam charts throughout the entire history of the game, the game shows the same trend it always has over the years. Every new league, you see a spike of about 120,000 players and then it drops back down to about an average of 13k through the remainder of the season and it repeats that same trend for the last few years. It's gain and loss ratio has been pretty balanced over the years.

Path of Exile is still doing pretty good in terms of keeping a steady community and player base going. Yeah, some of the cosmetics are expensive, but they are not required to play the game. Its up to you to determine whether its worth it to you. I personally buy a supporter pack each new league and then use the points on what I want. That way I get a bundle with the amount of points I paid for plus some additional cosmetics, and can still buy what I want on the shop with said points. While I don't like their loot boxes on the cash shop, their monetization strategy with the rest of their store is pretty fair to me.

So I'll finish up by saying, do your research before you start spouting half-assed crap.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. Enjoyed Diablo 3 a lot and can't wait for Diablo 4.

Edit: is loot and iventory part of the gameplay? Cause those squares of loot in the iventory fill up every 5 mobs you kill in path of exile and what drove me.off.

I enjoyed Diablo 2 a alot, really really did not like the path they took diablo 3. NOw it is fun game, just in my eyes nothing compared to where PoE is atm. But for someone wanting to simply mindlessly mass murder things with no though I can see the appeal of diablo3.  Was just too easy and too watered down me.

I am looking forward to diablo 4, just hope they go back closer to their roots and not the path diablo 3 was taking them.

As for Poe the special inventory things are beneficial but if you just focus on 1 maby 2 characters in a league it is more then a enough. If you want to have 5+ characters leveled and keep every rare/unique drop.. then you are gona have to spend $30-40 probably.

So in the end you end up with both game costing the same. PoE you end up playing a game with more depth, better economy, more freedom to make builds, more fleshed out endgame, and alot more variety in content. D3 you end up with a game with better graphics, more polish, better controls, better coop gameplay, and a more simplistic casual play focus. What it comes down to is what do prefer more out of those 2 options.

It's hard to believe that some people feel that Path of Exile is pay to win, I've sank over £2000 into the game since alpha and only missed 1 league.

I'm very happy with the amount of money I've spent on the game, does it give me any distinct advantage over someone who pays nothing, no of course not but I chose to spend the amount I did simply because I wanted to.

GGG have worked incredibly hard to keep the game from been Pay to Win, there are simple things such as pet's having the ability to loot that has been requested so many time's yet they refuse to implement in the game due to that fact that it could be seen as pay to win.

For anyone wanting to spend money on Path of Exile, the only thing I would recommend are stash tabs, there are different one's available for different currencies and well worth the investment.

What are you talking about? As much as I hate CCP with a passion. In their defense. They did a huge graphics overhaul years ago! Everything was updated with much higher resolution assets in the game. All the ships, stations, etc were completely overhauled!

One might not like the game itself and what it represents (bringing the worst out of people), but the game looks more beautiful than ever compared to how it was back in the beginning.
