Announced via the Korean gaming media (via MMOCulture), Jake Song officially announced ArcheAge 2 was in the works. Also announced was the upcoming Korean MMO would utilize Epic's latest Unreal Engine 5 technology to build the game.

    ArcheAge was a great game. Unfortunately, the poor choice of publisher they used for NA and EU release has really left a bad taste in the loyal player base. Hopefully they will look for a different publisher for AA2.

    'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless. 

    It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

    It is just huge resource waste....'

    This game would be successful if there was no cash shop. I mean literally not even the said “cosmetics only” because we all know that won’t be true.

    Their site is still there (just checked), they are just owned by another company now.

    A good portion of executives that made all the wrong calls transferred from Trion to Gamingo is still with the current company that made it bad.

    Gamigo isn't doing any better either. Which is now the current publishing rights holder for the ArcheAge IP.

    They do the 2 idea because simply upgrading a game doesn't promote any new sales while a NEW game does.

    I saw this once in the software I deal with, normally at $1 million a copy. The vendor decided that instead of fixing the bugs in the current code, they'd fix the bugs and then sell it again as a new tool.

In fact this time around they are going to hire more monetization professionals than game designers because modern MMORPG companies care more about extracting your money than making a good game.
