Spellbreak, a late to the scene battle royale is making quite the splash in on gaming sites lately and for good reason. Out of the development team at Proletariat Inc, previously responsible for a semi-popular Twitch plugin called Stream Legends, has spent the last few years working on their own unique take on the battle royale genre and the results are in and it's a homerun in my book.

I get where you are coming from, but as long as its fun and engaging does it matter? Also remember that these games probably started development years ago before the market was saturated. Plus its free you having nothing to lose.

Game combat feels similar to Quake with rapid movement and no headshots multiplayer, which makes it more interesting than it looks like

One of the most barebones BR games to come out and it gets an 8? Okay. That's like giving Crucible an 8.

Always happy to see a Not So MMO, but its BR, I guess someone will read it.

I welcome Spellbreak. Nice to have a populated magical based BR without building and all the kiddie bs like fortnite. Its actually quite fun to play.

Bet it does better than NW and Pantheion (PvE only games).

MMorpgs are not as saturated because it seems a large portion of players is waiting for the mmo mesiah which will be the best thing ever and bring back their first time mmo joy

Just because players are waiting for an MMO they want to play doesn't mean the genre isn't saturated.

On topic, I like Spellbreak. I like the idea of the magic gameplay, like another user said it is similar to guns but the combinations really make it fun. I like being able to throw a ball of poison gas down and use a frost gauntlet to freeze the gas and anyone inside of it. Or having a tornado on the ground and throwing fire into it to make anyone inside take fire damage because it became a fire tornado. It's really fun. But it is imbalanced as hell, it seems like a majority of people are using lightning main hands because they are hit scan and go really far, as well as their skill making people not able to do anything for 2 seconds.

These days I have been thinking about getting more interested in other genres. I will probably suck at battle royale though.

Game is fun, but currently it's just a magic based BR.

They are expanding the game a lot over the next year. Arenas, PvE, and lots of other events.
I would keep an eye on this one if you enjoy the combat style.
