I'll see if people are streaming it later this day. Honestly, the most fun I had in a survival game to date (Fallout 76 is currently second despite the oddities here and there).
Honestly this makes me consider reinstalling Conan Exiles and setting up my own server again. CE is legit one of the best Survival games I've ever played and my main complaint was always that I didn't care for the map because it was basically broken down into "noobie river" and then a bunch of biomes that made literally 0 sense being next to each other.
I mean frozen tundra surrounding an active volcano right next to a tropical jungle next to a sand desert next to a river. All because they didnt take the time to plan the map out at first and just sort of worked on Biomes during early access based on player feedback. Shame on them. Everyone knows the proper way to make a game is plan it out day 1 and ignore your fan base
My issue is that I don't want to make a separate character. It's almost just a "new game." I'm not enticed to purchase.
I'd rather an expansion add on to the world as opposed to being it's own separate thing.
When i found out that you have to make a new character i kinda liked that idea but at the time wasn't aware that it's pretty much a new game, which yes rather it be an expansion to the world not a tacked on separate side thing.
I liked exiles when i played with my son, i like survival, hit Minecraft so freaking hard before creative mode came along and changed it entirely.
With the expansion being separate you're not building in to a single world, effectively playing two different games, which just another reason i love mmorpg's.
I guess for me when i'm playing my chosen mmorpg's i'm playing today but always building into the future, as in everything i do matters and will always be present next week, next month, next year and the years after that.

Oh no, my issue isn't any particular combination of biomes, its that all of them exist together at once. They took multiple logical biomed and piled them together into one ridiculous super biome that makes no sense.
If they can't add it to the existing map, there's an "easy" solution.
A little bit of spoiler ahead so I'll hide it:
Since when you complete the main story, you essentially "die", they could have changed that part and made you "transport" into this new world. Something like each "world" is a new challenge/trial and if you're able to beat them all you're set free.

That's definitely interesting to know. I never even touched the story. I guess partly from the start and that was it.

OR make it so you can get free of the 'death bracelets' and then this is the map you can move to.
And taking a leaf from how Titan Quest: Anniversary Edition does it with their DLC; give you the option of creating a new character just for this map if you don't want to play through the original map.
Played on this new island for a couple of hours and so far it's been awesome.
I'm a bit wary about the whole "early access" thing though as I suspect it means that the island will probably be buggy and half empty once you start exploring a bit further inside, but for now I really like it - the new surges look super intimidating.

I agree that the arctic volcano is ridiculous, but jungle-river-desert is realistic. Africa has that type of biome. -- Anyone want to gift me the expansion? >_> https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198041600385/

That said, I agree. I'd rather they keep expanding than separate people.
