Well, it's her work. Regardless of what one thinks of her, she gets to reap the benefits of her efforts.

Imagine if someone didn't like you for their own reasons and said the same about your toil?

Also, I'm fairly certain that there are a number of actors, writers, musicians/singers that you like who, if you got to know them, probably would be on your "don't support list."

The point is that she is using her vast Twitter following to espouse her hideous views. And now she's publishing a book that, albeit in a slightly veiled way, shits on trans people even more.

If actors and writers have similarly vile opinions and we don't know about it.  Well then that's because they aren't spreading their views publicly.  and so it's Apples to Oranges.

Anyway, I wouldn't spend money on anything that would benefit her at this point.
So don’t follow her or support her. We don’t all have to support transgenders, or do we lose our ability to have an opinion because you don’t like it?... just like you won’t catch me supporting pedis. You have to draw the line somewhere. I identify as a toaster, not sure what this worlds coming to.

So you are equating transgenders with pedophiles?  You sir are the problem and are simply disgusting.

Yes, the tweets of JKR are not my cup of tea.
Really, it surprised me at first since she decided Dumbledore is gay.

But i enjoy the fantasy world she did create and won't let her stupidity interfere with my liking of the HP world and the countless others that have poured their sweat and tears into that world.

Well she made a statement that he was gay yet she backtracked when writing the scripts for the Beasts movies.  I think she was pandering.

The thing is, sure, she's not a saint. None of us are.

But do you know what else she uses her vast amounts of money on? Charities for Women and children. I seem to remember reading somewhere that she has given vast amounts of her money away to help causes that support women and children.

So I'm not really clear that she's a horrible person so much as a flawed person. Like us all.

We seem to live in a really strange time where anyone can make their views known and reach millions of people doing it. I personally think people should keep their opinions to themselves as I'm not really clear what she, or anyone else, feels like they are going to accomplish by stating them out loud and strong.

But, they are her opinions and I suppose she's welcome to voice them as much as any of us are welcome to voice ours. She's also welcome to disagree with people just like we have the same right.

The thing is that the medical community is quite clear that transgenderism is real.  She is being no less ignorant or hateful than all of the people that have treated homosexuals as being unnatural, abhorrent, crazy, evil, sinful ...

So not only is she "wrong", she is also combative and closed minded in it.  For her all that matters is her "truth" and experiences.  She's taken this combativeness to the next level by writing a novel in which the villain is a transgender person who she simply treats as a transvestite.  As that's all she thinks transgendered people all.

As someone that knows and cares about those with gender dysphoria, I reject her and any like her completely.  Just as I reject racists and misogynists.

The medical community is not "quite clear" on transgenderism. But few will speak out against many taboo subjects today when they face immediate calls for them to loose their jobs.

Some do though, Carl Henegan a professor of medicine at Oxford University described the off-label use of puberty blockers on under-18s as an ‘unregulated live experiment on children’.

Perhaps you should get of here and start a campaign to have him dismissed? There is the difference you see, when doctors support transgenderism they might be questioned but they are not hounded, let all have their say. That's what living in a liberal society meant before social media turned debate over to stone throwing mobs.

My own position, which you probably think you understand before I have even stated it, is that there should be no question as to their right to decide who they are, but I don't think an under eighteen can be relied on to make such a decision.

Well if it comes out on the PC then I guess we will be able to play it in 4K, not just watch a video of it in 4K. :)

I see JKR as someone whose views on an issue will hopefully be amended some day after she is better informed. In the meantime, while I wait for that to happen, I applaud her acceptance and generosity of spirit as to so many other people, especially children.

Ahhh cool, here is what I have come to expect from these forums and the MMO community at large. This is the type of uninformed bigoted nonsense that I love to see and a large reason why my visits here have become infrequent. This isn't direct at Sovrath's comments in any way by the way, I think we had a fairly civil discussion before.

Drawing the comparison between being transgender and a pedophile is insanely unwarranted and truly offensive to transgender people, though I am sure that is your intent or you don't care. Your little quip about "identifying as a toaster" is just really flexing that "I literally know nothing about the topic so I have to insult it" energy, so congrats on pulling that 4chan meme into the convo, I guess.

Supporting transgender people is just supporting people, end of story. I could care less what you support, as you clearly aren't someone I care to interact with even within these forums. Just like you are free to throw your opinions out there, I am as well and will call out nonsense when I see it. I swear everyone's rebuttal is always about "free speech" or everyone being a snowflake or something...If I had a nickel for every time someone inserted "what is the world coming to" in a discussion in regard to everything from women's suffrage, the civil rights movement, and the LGBTQ movement, damn I'd be rich lol.

Anyway, I have said my peace on the subject at hand. Does the game look cool? Sure! Do I like the HP universe? Of course I do. But I can also dislike the stances the creator has taken and voice my disagreement with her using her platform to spread harmful views.

Day one purchase for me. It seems folks are asking JK Rowling to EMBRACE transgender issues when it’s foolish to expect every human on the planet to be loving and sing kumbaya in utopian unity. Pure fantasy.

Best we can do is tolerance. Transgender people are human beings too and I support their right to exist. And because they are human beings, they should not be immune to peaceful scrutiny or criticism. Neither should straight white people or any other demographic.

Nice. Looks like there will be Light/Dark magic choices similar to light/dark side in KOTOR.

Its funny you compared it to KOTOR. I immediately went to FABLE. I love that series, and cannot wait for the new game, but I love Harry Potter even more. If this is even half of what a Fable game is like, but in the HP universe, I will throw all my money at it.

So you are equating transgenders with pedophiles?  You sir are the problem and are simply disgusting.

It reads to me as though he feels we are not all obliged to be equally and completely accepting of any deviation from the norm that happens to come along just because that has become the societal trend as of late.

While his choice of comparison is poor as the two are almost entirely dissimilar in nature, with the former being amoral and the latter in contention for the height of immorality, they do share the quality of being deviations from the norm.

That isn't an entirely unreasonable stance.

An attitude of blanket acceptance can and has led to levels of absurdity of both declaration and expectation such will be catered to. It would be nice if his identification as a toaster example was a joke rather than a reference to the genuine belief of some that they are other than entirely human.

Where the line is drawn is something that may need to be considered, while enough people with some sense of reality remain to draw one.

When to start hormones or gender changes is a far deeper issue than recognizing that transgenderism exists and is not purely psychological as the ignorant claim.

If you don't believe that transgenderism or human influenced climate change exists, then there's really no point in communicating.

History will clearly show that trans-phobes were on the wrong side of facts, just as white supremacists, mysognists and homo-phobes have proven to be.

LMFAO! I read a post last night asking why these forums are becoming so quiet. A lot of the replies were to the effect that the site needed to post more articles about MMOs.

The very next day they post about a NEW MMO, and within 2 or 3 replies it turns into a squabble about trans gender, evil authors, and rights to broadcast opinions.

You just can't make this shit up....!     :p

    well, it's not an MMO...

I see a lot of positives in that video and i can't say that too often now a days,i hope the game is actually good.

Pretty sure i saw Avalanche studios, seems a legit studio so we might have a decent game here.It all comes down to the depth put into the systems or weather it is just some scripted sequences with quests.
I'll use an example based on what i see in Cyberpunk.I see scripted sequences which might be fun/cool to watch but i do NOT see good gameplay,i see simple go kill this quests, rinse and repeat and very limited on how many variations of.

This game seems better on the surface, like it has way more potential,so fingers crossed.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
