My online gaming fate lies with the MMORPG.COM community. My WoW account is about to expire and I'm faced with a delimna. I like WoW right now but I can't get the idea out of my head that I'm playing a MMORPG single player game. ie. I won't be raiding when I hit level 60. So although I'm having fun right now but I know I'm going 'nowhere' (if you can ever really go 'anywhere' in these games). Although I have met a great group of people in my current guild the community is so horridly full of morons.
What I didn't tell the citizens of Azeroth is I have a Thorax Battlecruiser burried under the sands of the Shimmering flats and I can take off any time I want. Azeroth is really a [confidential] planet in a far off 0.0 system.
(and to those that will invariably flame this: yes of course its a matter of choice but I give my choice up to a poll because I want to).
My question to my fellow gamers is:

Then chuck it in the bin and play Eve permanently.

Play EVE! Trust me.

With 2 accounts you're laughing too, you can cover two styles of play happily and have a whale of a time.
Try the 14 day free trial of EVE. I tried it a few times but found it a little too slow for my tastes; however, If you manage to get into a good corporation or get people to join with you I could see it being an awesome experience.
Read what the OP added later in the thread...
He already has (two) EVE accounts. He's asking if he should go back, or keep playing WOW.
But I say go back to EVE once you feel you've gotten you're money's worth from WOW, if you feel its still possible.
You know it's better. You just do.
Why not do both? Continue playing wow, but start a EVE trial so you can start on the time based skills? I do not play so not sure how this would work, but from all the many pro-EVE threads I have read aren't the skills based on time account is on? regardless of actual skill? <--(expecting flames for that one) What I meant is the skills go up whether you use them or not right? And whether you are online or not?
disclaimer- tried EVE for about 4 hours before I gladly uninstalled it. Was a cool lookinggame, just not for me. Reminded me of Freelancer without planets
WoW until you're bored, then Eve. Just my 2¢.
so...
I too have been riding around azaroth on my chesnut mare horse , dreaming of gunning down cargo ships in deep space . u r not alone ...
I played eve for about a month , and i did love it , but there was something very lonely about that space game. i can't put a handle on it but , i felt that it lacked life , because u r a ship u are a picture , but you are not a whole person , i wished you could get out of your ship and stretch and cool your heels in a space station bar and interact with other players in a more pleasing way , thats why the far off Star Trek online looks like a sure hit. a game where you can one minute be on world bumping someone off / or stealing secret technology then flying off at speed of light in a sleathy attack ship . oh wait a minute there is such a game , but hang on its SWG ... iam sorry iam not answering your question ... the truth is , we want both, but in the same game just not SWG ...
wait for the new expansion for wow , iam sure its new lands will take u another few months to explore and plunder
Gene
Well let me ask you this.
Do you:
A: Want to get bored with a game after 3 months? (WoW)
Or:
B: Do you want to wait 3 months before you can start enjoying the game (EVE)
Seriously though, both games are decent, but they are so different it's hard to compare them. My suggestion. Start playing both at the same time. Let your EVE character's Learning skills max out while you are playing Wow. By the time you are sick of WoW you can start playing your EVE character to it's fullest potential.

And I don't want to hear anything about "I don't believe in vampires" because *I* don't believe in vampires, but I believe in my own two eyes, and what *I* saw is ******* vampires! "
Well, the Path to Kali starts this year..sometime.
Do you want to get your space-legs ready for that time, or do you want to get WoW out of your system in order to dedicate yourself to Eve?
If it were me and I was having fun with WoW, I'd keep the WoW account and hold off on Eve until they start releasing the Kali patches which should be "Soon™"

Compared with movies.
WOW = more of a Michael Bay/Jerry Bruckheimer film. People go see it for all the cool special effects, cheezy dialogue, and big explosions. Most of these movies are very light on plot. The Rock, Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys, The Fast and The Furious, Battlefield Earth
EVE = more of a Francis Ford Coppola/Stanley Kubrick film. People go see it for a visually and interesting/weird story. Godfather, Apocalypse Now, A Clockwork Orange, Collateral
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
Q: Do you want to learn about Chuck Norris?
OR
Q: Do you want to learn about black holes?

If you can sign up for EVE and start the training (learning skills), keep playing WoW until you become bored ****less in a month or so. At that time cancel WoW and jump into your Thorax with the headstart on the learning skills.
BTW Amarr are scumbags!
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

So ... play 'em both until WoW grows tedious. Just be sure to login to eve occasionally to switch skills.
lol!

I got bored with Eve, doing WoW for a while.
For some reason I find the Eve gameworld depressing and dull. A couple of times I fell asleep camping gates. I'm done with Eve for now.
