Why do the Kool-Aid drinkers feel the need to answer each and every post? I have never such an insecure bunch in my life. They're just like you know who. If they keep saying it enough it will come true, or at least the stupid people will believe it.
I think it's mostly comes down to ignorance and frustration. Seems like many posting here share 2 common traits, they are 1) jaded ex-mmorpger's that lost the love for gaming and 2) aren't used to see games being developed from the inception.
Oh man you are a treat. 3) outsiders who just laugh at the joke this project has become. No one with their head screwed on thinks this is okay.

Some believe that some of the rapid defenders on here are paid shills. Either way, the amount of time and effort they put in, responding to every single SC post, over and over, is sad. Personally, I prefer to think they're getting paid to do it, so I don't feel as bad for them. We post and respond from time to time. They're at it non-stop.

I honestly think a few are “false flag” accounts that just go so over the top to actually try and discredit what they pretend to defend.

Nop, I've naield the point multiple times in a clear and straightforward way.
Gamers will play what they like and will pay what they feel it's right for them. Dev's put out products and if gamers enjoy them enough they will spend time and money on them to do so. Simple as that.
Just so happens that the game Chris Roberts is doing is enjoyed enough by a substantial amount of gamers that it generates enough funding for them to develop the game as they see fit. Doesn't matter what your "beliefs" are as they have no relevance, only facts.
And the facts show a constant increase in player engagement with the funding to go along with.
What you or anyone else believes, agrees or disagrees is irrelevant if not substantiated with facts and reality. It's just way of coping with a reality you can't or don't want to grasp aka cognitive bias.
That Star Citizen, in a Alpha stage, missing features and with it's bugs and performance issues, already is a the best space game for a lot of gamers out there,
And that's why Star Citizen will just keep on getting updated, getting more players and funding along the years, rinse & repeat.
“I can promise you the gameplay I described is not a pipe dream, nor will it take 10 to 20 years to deliver.”
To that title?
Creative "Journalism" is a thing we get it but misrepresenting quotes for clickbait is kind low.
How is it misrepresented? Both state the game will not take 10 to 20 years to deliver, with slightly different wording. They needn't paraphrase the whole thing if they wish to focus on the time it will take alone.
I think he has dreamed his whole like making money off a game, so why stop dreaming when he is make money hand over fist just selling ship skins and pipedreams?
Because it make no sense to believe they make more cash in Alpha rather than with a finish product?
Make your own speculation based on facts: A game in development, gathering more new members at each patch over years, accumulating +300M$ with a fraction of all gameplay, while having to deal with bugs, crash and potential wipe.
– Does a finished game (in fact two with SQ42 to be released before SC) can gather way more people never joining
– Does a finished game will lift doubt from backers who stop pledging more until a specific ship or gameplay is added?
– Does a finished game (SQ42) could be a good candidate to be ported to new consoles generation with minimum of effort because compatible and powerful enough hardware, hence doubling or tripling PC players base?
The answer is genuinely a big yes. The cash you see now is a fraction of what will get in. If cash was the main reason to keep development longer, finishing game is by far the best incentive.
Speculated earnings aren't actual earnings.
As of now there are no release based facts to go on. That all signs may point to 'yes' is no guaranty the expected profitability will come to pass. For that matter, there is no guaranty the game will reach a finished state so as to earn profit at all.
In contrast, they have a great deal of proven success raising funds with the promise of what the game is to be. Sometimes what you have in hand is preferable to the uncertain potential of even a great deal more.
Can someone remind me which game was a success after many years in "development" ?
~ Team Fortress 2 Diablo 3 GTA 5 Overwatch Elder Scrolls Online Prey Read Dead Redemption 2 The Last of Us 2 Mount & Blade Final Fantasy Online ". ". XV (*) Cyberpunk Elder Scrolls VI BeyondGoodEvil2 StarField GTA 6
EtcEtc
I said many, like .. MANY. SC is already in "development" as long as D3 was = 8 years. But guess what? SC is still in (very) early Alpha!
There is however a game which surpass SC in terms of "development". Darkfall.
Remember that? I do!

I still predict CIG will sell out to Amazon. It'll give the perfect excuse too -- all game flaws will be attributable to Amazon. Roberts will keep all the special effects divisions, and get to play Hollywood Insider. Amazon will get a high profile project for it's attempt to 'Go Game!'
As the need for investor buy in on SC continues, chunks of control will be ceded. Especially as Ortwin, who has been a fellow conspirator for Roberts for quite a while, owns a big chunk. While he's been tight with the plan all this time, he is a lawyer.....
Someone else in control is the best chance for a releasable SC game with a level of reasonable abstraction. When 'elevators rarely kill you now', and 'an increasing chunk of the NPCs don't stand on chairs' are 9 year positives, you know that progression is a problem.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
If you somehow think Star Citizen is something I'm wishing for, you've really bumped your noggin. But I will note that while SC focuses on elevators working, Elite:Dangerous already has much of what SC promises and will soon have space legs with FPS combat, pretty much matching SC current content ( if you ignore E:D's entire galaxy of planets compared to SC's ummm, what is it, six planets now? ROFL ) but in an actual released and playable state. But I know you probably don't wanna hear that.
As to why I think SC and Chris Roberts need to both be buried in a very deep hole and lost to history is I don't want to see all of gaming turned into nothing but people throwing money at wishes that will never release due to the wishing money being so good. SC and Chris Roberts are a cancer to gaming as a whole that need to be lanced and excised.
Elite, being a single-player game at heart (if you didn't know in Elite: Dangerous you can hop between either Solo/Private/Open Modes as you like. By playing in Solo you avoid any other players and can make grind credits while still affecting the games online economy). As it's highly scripted and fixed nothing really happens unless you want to and that makes the game highly predictable and repetitive by nature.
For that reason and many more, it will never provide the gameplay agency, social dynamics and engagement of a mmo and even less one with the complexity of Star Citizen and it's systemic game design approach. Besides being set in futuristic space each games fundamental approach to gameplay is completely different.
Sure, It will have some tackled form of "space legs with fps" just like it has some tackled form of "multicrew" but never with the freedom and seamless implemented in Star Citizen.
As for having a billion of procedural planets looking all the same vs less ones but hand-crafted ones... I'll leave you with a video of a Elite:Dangerous fanboy.
And sure, I'd say you're quite interested, or else you wouldn't be wasting time posting about Star Citzen and instead would be posting about Fallout or Anthem, yet, here you are, making desperate
comparisons of games you don't even know much about (both SC and Elite).
I only post in SC threads because you and pigboy always show up. I'm attracted to all things deranged, and boy howdy do y'all fit the description.
Having nothing to play is getting to you hein... Don't lose hope, I'm sure you're dream sci-fi mmorpg will come to fruition, even if not directly with Star Citizen but with all the copycats that will come after it's astonishing success

Actually he and bobber are the last two regular defenders, the pig and hare have been largely absent the past 6 months or so.
Even their patience has been tested as of late it seems.

Seems like many posting here share 2 common traits, they are 1) jaded ex-mmorpger's that lost the love for gaming and 2) aren't used to see games being developed from the inception. So when you add the fact that a high profile crowdfunded project which involves probably 2 of the most ambitious games ever attempted through a crowdfunding effort you have a magnet for negative bias and angry gamers to relieve their frustrations.
It's why any Star Citizen/Squadron42 thread is filled with posts by people who know very little about the games in question or it's development context. Choosing to hop on the hate-wagon in the hopes of getting some sense of vindication no matter how wrong their premises are and how facts nullify their assumptions. Confirmation bias at it's worst.
Ok, so how long WILL it take to get to a final product?
Do you even have a scheduled target date?
There is no official target date on the official Website.
Have fun
No date, not even for the 1/3rd of the single player game that they said they could deliver for 4mil, then 20mil, then 60mil, etc.
Having no date for release is fine, especially as they wouldn't make it anyway. Wise to quit embarrasing themselves.
As always folks need to go in with their eyes open. The management is fiddly, vainglorious, micromanaging and wildly extravagant. WYSIWYG. For you and others, that's fine. For some it's the definition of arrested development.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
