I played it for about 10 minutes and uninstalled it. Not because it's bad, but because there is no character customization and switching between characters feels like shape shifting and I don't like either of these things.
So, MassivelyOP reports that China is banning certain topics and words in the game including Taiwan, Hong Kong, and enemies, among others. It's interesting how times change. I for one welcome our new censorship overlords.
"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, we have new gacha characters coming!"
A little odd given that the game is Chinese. They'd have to be either brazenly rebellious or deeply incompetent to include enemies censored by their own country.

The odd thing to me is that the west so easily adopts and accepts Chinese censorship and its projected authoritarianism in our own countries without question. The MOP article does point out that talking about topics sensitive to China in a Chinese made game is probably not realistic. I just think it's interesting how willingly we westerners who talk big about freedom and democracy will so easily overlook such things. Not long ago it would have been an issue, if not a news thread talking point.
Because ultimately, business needs take precedent over principles. Not exactly surprising.
Though perhaps even the topic of "censorship" requires nuance. Can there be instances in which a filter on content makes a product or a story better?
In my opinion, yes. In very rare cases. Particularly where cultural difference cause a scene to be directed towards audience A at the cost of audience B.
The Trails series, which I very much love, has gotten progressively more inclined towards expanding its audience appeal through sexualization. Usually, this works well enough. Sometimes, it's pointlessly gratuitous and actively hurts the tone of the story. It's certainly made the Cold Steel arc less classy and dignified than the preceeding Sky arc. Would Trails of Cold Steel 3 be a slightly better game without an unnecessary and distasteful non-consensual breast-groping scene? Absolutely. And if localizers had the same influence as editors do for books and films in the west, perhaps this kind of change would actually happen.

Stop making me not want to brainlessly enjoy this game. We had a good thing going.
Honestly, I agree completely. It is desensitization. I think rulers of authoritarian countries etc. just keep lightly hammering out the same message until we are numb to it. If it isn't too big everyone will ignore it. Death by a thousand blows.
I actually enjoy the game quite a bit. It is fun and mostly simple.
No xbox xbox because of the china x merica war. Thank god, the game is so simple snd contentless, that it would hurt your brain. Checkout reddit for that.

Its nothing new with China (and other countries). If another country /culture shares their wealth with us we can forgive them any number of censorship / human rights abuses.
Money and wealth have been the new church for decades now, its not going to change anytime soon.
Oh get over yourselves. Just look at the US government, because they changed the laws to define corporations as "persons" under the law, and removed the individual limits on political donations under Reagan back in the 1980s, they've been taking money to look the other way for decades.
No other developed nation has anything even remotely close to the level of gun violence as is seen in the US (as a combined total among developed nations, the US has over 80% of the incidents of gun violence), due to the stupid number of guns found there versus every other developed nation. Then every other developed nation makes health care a right, while it's a privilege in the US, if you have enough money. Combined, both cost thousands, upon thousands of deaths of US citizens a year, but that's all just fine, as politicians get to line their pockets, and US corporate propaganda has made many Americans believe they shouldn't want things any other way. Agencies meant to protect workers, the environment, and such are headed by former lobbyists that used to work against such groups, and it all just continues like that.
The Chinese government aren't saints by any measure, but The US government has been putting profits, before people for decades, and could reasonably be said to be actively killing its own people as a result, and that's even before Trump. But oh wow, let's all make China as the only big bad, since after Covid-19, and the Trump rhetoric, that's become the super trendy thing to do.
Aside from that, I'm sure many of you just love installing any old free phone app you come across, because it sounded fun at the time, then never bothered to read the user agreements. Guess what, some of them have you agreeing to basically hand full control over your phone, and the data on it. They can access your call logs, message logs, your contact lists, turn on your camera, and mic, as well as more of the same. Then there's the likes of Google, and Facebook, which is full of user data that they sell to others.

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!
It requires kernal access. That to me screams Chinese spyware in a knockoff Breath of the Wild clone.
You get what you pay for people. If you're wanting a new game Star Wars Squadrons and Baldur's Gate 3 are both great and run with no issue on Shadow!
I'm not playing ANYTHING that requires kernal access if I can help it.
