There are so many unknowns in EVE Online right now thanks to the events of the last few days. What do all the gate fluctuations mean long term for New Eden? How will capsuleers recover and regroup with the formation of TrigSec, or T-Space? Bradford dives into why he feels more excited than ever to undock and fly in EVE Online.

Good on the devs for kicking around some sand in the sandbox. It remains to be seen what the playerbase will do, but they will likely moan and complain that someone touched their sand.

Lets say you have children in a daycare playing in the sand and then the person responsible of watching them comes in and start kicking their sandcastle telling them they need to adapt... That's what EVE has been for the last few years. (would you keep paying to send your child there?!)

What the OP calls "chalenge" are just more random annoyance that really brings nothing to the game. If you aren't in a big power block, just don't bother.

The resource distribution update + Quantum cores is going to kill pretty much all the small to medium corps.

Enjoy being a F1 monkey... Personally, I unsubed 1 month ago and I don't plan to ever coming back this time.

This game embodies the sunken cost fallacy and I'm done dealing with this mess.

    Can i has your account?

Your analogy is pretty spot on, except that it's more like the person responsible for watching them comes in and starts cleaning the tired, old sandbox. They ask the children to step out of their sandbox so they can replace lost sand, remove the random cat turds, and pull out some weeds. My children of course come crying to me with all their classmates. They tell me tales of woe, and how the mean adult changed their weed and crap infested sandbox. I in turn thank the mean adult for caring for their sandbox... eh I'm done with this stupid analogy.

Maybe this new 'challenge' will divert all the gank squads from the newbie and some new players can slip 'under the radar' to see what this game is like.

I love that EVE is still going, and how brutally vicious it is led by true life sociopaths like the real world. They are true life characters on the stage, playing to the depths of all that was human nature long before the wheel, now given space ships and endless space to be left or hunted alone. Some of the best music ever too there.

I left the game under the asteroids mining... Til I slept away my need or greed.

There is a difference between daycare aged children and adults, ideally.

The former lack the tools to adapt well to disruptive changes in their environment. The latter are generally well equipped to deal with such due to life experiences. Hence, the sympathy that most would have for the plight of the two groups would vary considerably.

Change is the order of the day in EVE online it would seem, and so far as I know the game has never been one to provide a coddling environment to players. One will have to adapt or be left behind, or disengage.

As I play(ed) both, I can't even imagine how one can be obsessed with Lotro AND Eve Online *g*
