Do you remember the community? The maturity of the players and the helpfulness. Now remember the other aspects of DAoC.
If your first MMO was DAoC and you started with it before TOA, you know what I'm talking about. I am wandering what game will be the next DAoC.
Naturally I figured that WAR would be it, but now I know it won't. It has the same following that WoW has and there is even talk of it going to console as well. So what game do you all think will capture the same feeling and community that DAoC did and still does?

on really. And some how I think your accusations of WAR is a bit heavy.

I started way before any expansions, I think the game might have just come out. I was like 13 and it totally got me into mmos. I remember staying in mag mell because I would seriously get lost. It was awsome when you see someone run by and you asked them for directions to get back. I liked finding new places to hunt.
I love the way they set up their mobs. They are in packs and for the most part orginized unlike wow were the developers put a bunch of monsters in a trebuche and launched it to their world.
Anyone remember Muire tomb back in the day? Man oh man were there tons of graves and people.
Hibernian from Igraine.
DAoC wasn't my first MMO, played EQ briefly from just before Kunark to Velios and then AO until I couldn't take the bugginess anymore. DAoC was/is my all time favorite MMO, it did just about everything well.
The level grind was crazy before the Epic zones came out, but you felt a sense of accomplishment when you hit 50 back then.
Mythic did a great job of giving the players two distinct playing fields. The PvE home realm and the PvP frontiers.
The PvP is still the best all around so far.
The game is a shell of its' former self now. New Frontiers and ToA were both giant steps backwards for the game, Mythic screwed both sides with those expansions.
All in all, DAoC was, for me, the best MMO made yet. EVE is a very close second.
Although not perfect, I think the communication (that used to exist) between "devs" and players through their website was also unique and a bit refreshing... I haven't seen any such communication on changes and opinions and issues for any other MMO I've played, and I've played quite a few.
I have not played EVE. It seems very popular among those who post here. However, what I've read about it just doesn't sound like my cup of tea. Oh well...
I do miss the community on DAoC. I played on 2 different RP servers and the characters there were memorable and quite fun. Ah well... part of growing up is moving on... and having memories ...
