Graphics- Don't like EQ2 graphics, WoW graphics are too cartoony but has better style than EQ2, Guild wars too bright and colourful, EQ too old but probably best artwork, DAoC/Anarchy Online didn't impress graphically. AC2 had original graphics and were pretty nice.

    Community- Everquest

    Gameworld- Everquest

    Grouping System- Everquest

    Lore- Everquest

    Leveling- Everquest

    Quests- Everquest

    Tradeskills- Tale of the Desert.

Support- Just as good/bad as each other.

Skills or Powers- WoW perhaps, nice talent tree, or EQ2 the abilities in that are really nice.

    Simplicity- WoW

PvP- Nah not come across a good mmorpg pvp game yet, probably fps or a dota is better at this stage.

    Sound and Music- probably EQ2

    Loot- Everquest

Overall fun- theres a question, perhaps when good mmorpg pvp comes along will come along fun.

Roleplay- Don't roleplay but the best roleplayers I seen were in Everquest.

Value- All pretty much the same. Perhaps Gunzonline for being free, not strictly a mmorpg but has similar characteristics of levelling up/buying items.

By the way I mention EQ a lot, I don't think they are the best. But its the best I've experienced out of the games I've played.

  • Graphics- Haven't fallen in luv yet...

    Community- EQ

    Gameworld- EQ

    Grouping / mentoring- CoV

    Lore- EQ

    Leveling- WoW ...j/k EQ

    Quests- EQ2

    Tradeskills- I rarely craft so....

    Powers- CoV

PvP- EQ on RZ original ruleset

Music- I usually play mp3s so...

    Loot system- EQ2

    Fun factor- EQ

    RP- EQ hands down

Alright, I'll give a real, non biased opinion.  Like anyone cares but here ya go:

Graphics: Lineage 2.   Very good.   And extremely good for as many 100+ people battles without lag it has to deal with.

Community:  This is a tough one.   Im sorta playing eve right now even though Im finding it extremely boring and whatnot but the people are very helpful and nice.

Gameworld:  SWG Hands down (Pre NGE).   Awesome planets.  Would take you quite a long time to cover every planet.

Grouping / mentoring:  EQ1 and mentoring? I dont care.  EQ2/CoHv, take your pick.

Lore: EQ/WoW  Both have very detailed background lore and stories and whatnot.

Leveling:  My personal preference is a Skill based system.   So my vote goes to SWG (Pre NGE)  and UO before it.  for straight levels,  Lineage 2.  Yeah it's a horrble grind, but the more work you put into something, the less likey you are to throw it away and you appreciate it more.

Quests:  WoW.   They were very easy to follow and complete.  And were not cumbersome.  Unlike EQ2 where I had 987 quests and ended up completing a lot of them by accident.

Tradeskills:  SWG (Pre-NGE) I don't know a lot of people that can argue this.   Unless of course they just had it out for the game and hated it.   I had an absoutle blast being a weaponsmith in the beginning.   Weird, I know.   EQ2 is pretty complex as well.  But just notthe same flavor as swg with harvesters and planetary resource shifts.  (Wtf were they thinking with nge?)

Powers: Mmmm.  I guess this auto goes to City of whatever.

PvP:  Meridian 59 (vale) UO (Pre-trammel) Everything else seems bland.  Oh AC1 wasn't bad at all.

    Music: Don't care.

Loot system:  WoW for Drop driven game.  SWG (Pre-NGE) for player driven economy.

Fun factor:  SWG (Pre-NGE) Probably the most fun I had on a game.  Mmmm my first time around in EQ was fun for some reason too.

    RP: EQ1/EQ2 toss up.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.  I put some thought into it.   Which is more than I can say for most of what I do :P

I played AC for quite some time back in the day (7-8 years ago?).

I thought the magic system was quite in depth for it's time.

I really like how you can't just learn a spell from someone,  or all of a sudden you know 10 more spells because you just killed you 100th orc.

Instead,  you had to figure out the spell components outta literally dozens and dozens of reagents.  On top of that,  the spell formula was different for every player.  It was quite neat to try different combinations and come up with some spell.  I'm really surprised no other game has something similar.  That's a great starting spot for a killer magic system.

Here's a wild idea,  take all the great things mentioned and make a game using these systems.

Blizzard is a company that always has success.  Are they genius' or something?  No,  I don't think so.  What Blizzard does is look at what is out there,  and make it better.  They see what all the other games have,  they take the good parts,  and fix the bad parts.  Boom!  6 million subscribers!

I'm mentioning games in beta here aswell

    Game World

Crafting: Tale in the Desert III

Player Driven Economy: Saga of Ryzom (wasn't fortunate enough to play SWG before it was turned into what it is) Saga of Ryzom still relies to heavely on NPC's as the middle men, if you could hire NPCs to sell for you and set up shop it'd be much better

    Stability/smoothness: WOW

Lore: SWG not hard when based on the movies though

Sound: I don't really care either, so long as it matches the setting

Combat: Mount and Blade (I know its not a MMORPG but it is a RPG otherwise I'd say GWs)

There the only topics I'll choose decisevly though

Graphics: WOW, EQII Guild Wars and there are few others that are in the same league

Political Positions and Reputations: Saga of Ryzom, Roma Victor and DnL

    PVP: Less restricted the better

Quest: SOE games have the best quest although I prefer to work with another player in a guild than a NPC, also worth mentioning I think it was Face of Mankind (only played it briefly when it was in beta) that had player given to other player quest supported

Grouping System: Roma Victor. If you don't need one and can just get in a group than thats better, not many games like this though a beta game springs to mind(don't know if its okay for me to mention it being specifically that so I won't although its mentioned in this post its also not going to do the game any harm) and I'm sure I'm forgetting others
PS A skill based game were u can get XP for a skill by just doing it means you can train insteed of raid or hunt for XP making a supported grouping system not needed unless someone starts supporting formations

Guild management: I think EQII covered the basics really well but than again so do many other games I like how Saga of Ryzom allows for guilds to capture outpost and hold inportant posiitions as does DNL/SOG to an extent aswell as other games like DAOC (or so I hear)

Genral User Interface(GUI): WOW GW & EQII

Heres my opinion on a couple MMORPG's that i have enjoyed.

Character Creation - CoV as stated above, this by far has once of the biggest choices and selections you can make to customise the appearence of you character hugely.

Graphics - WoW I just love the graphics on different types of weps, armours and characters, especialy my high warlord geared out Tauren Shaman.

Community - Myth of Soma, which was my first mmorpg that i played which got me addicted.  Made alot of good friends there... Hundreds of people new each other, realy friendly and helpfull blah blah.

Grouping System - Ragnarok, doesnt realy stand out that much, i just liked parting in ragnarok as you have to take things seriously otherwise you could die and get you group killed in seconds, unlike some other games.

Leveling - No game imparticular realy but i must confess, it seems like im one of the few people that actualy like all these hardcore leveling games.  WoW, GW and other games are just way to easy to hit cap... hard / impossible leveling cap is a great thing in my opinion.

Mission System - Space Cowboy as said above, every level you recieve new missions for example kill 5 types of this insect, 10 types of that blah blah whilst also giving some good rewards.
Stats - Myth of soma has the best stat system in my opinion.  Basicaly you can raise any stat.. so you can multi class realy appart from the fact your only allowed a maximum for 360 wepon skill or something like that so only 2 wepons can be maxed.  An example using an axe gives you 0.1 str x 7 to every 0.1 dex you recieve where as bow gives 0.7 dex to every 0.1str gained whilst sword, spear and knuckle are somewhere in between.  Each stat gained increases by 0.1 at a time, str, dex, con, int are the main stats.

PvP - WoW has the best PvP that i prefer, either world PvP which is basicaly ganking people that are leveling or travelling to an instance, or PvP zones like AB, AV and WSG.  And the fact that you cannot spam pots like some games meaning its abit more skill, although classes like mages that hit 4k crit pom frostbolts hardly takes much skill :D

    Loot - WoW

    Overall fun - WoW

Got bored at the end :D, played nearly every mmorpg listen on the website, although from the above these are the ones i have played on the most.

I just got EQ2, Seems like a good game. Graphics are top notch. I may edit my list after playing this one. Although so far, it feels like WoW. But I'm still in the new area. I do like the fact that I can be a doggone frog, ha.

Thanks. I just read alot of game rips. I like most that I play. Everyone has faves. At one time or another, these games have all been fun, but like all MMO's , they all lose thier edge and get a bit tedious. But thats the nature of these games. Thats why I play 1 or 2 at a time, cancel and revisit them after a few months. For example, I started CoV when it came out, played for a few months, cancelled and came back in April. It was fun again. I've done the same with WoW, CoH, SWG. I keep GW cause it's free.
