I’ve tried the game a couple times and the reason I didn’t continue playing was the fact that each class had so many skills and the rotations are so long. I don’t find that enjoyable at all.

Everyone says this, I thought the same thing back in the day. Felt like starter ping-pong and I had a hard time enjoying it. I also heard vets say skill rotations get faster as you level, so I figured I would at least get to 45 to see if this was true or not. It does indeed get better as you go along. Once you get at least one class to 80 you forget how slow the lower levels are, at least until you have to level another class.

Only who didn't play FFXI finds gameplay slow, personally I find it too fast. In FFXI we would be chatting mid fight in FFXIV you can't there is no auto attack gather tp like in 11. People mostly chat when doing nothing or on long cutscenes because combat requires you to hit skills every moment or avoid AOE. Its true though low levels barely have skills and mostly you spam same skill over and over but higher level you have a lot of skills and combos which will have you press buttons non stop. If this game is slow WoW and all other games are slow.

I don’t mind the speed of combat. I don’t enjoy 12-15 skill rotations to set up and maximize combo potential. Call me a basic b, but I don’t want to mess with more that 6 skills in combat.

Currently subbed and recently finished storm blood. I want to continue for the Shadow Bringers story but I find myself not wanting to login because I hate the dungeons as a healer and is my only class. I strongly dislike having to complete dungeons to progress the story. They are not fun and very repetitive.

What MMO has 6 skills or less?

Yeah make another class for dungeons lol. It makes lower level dungeons more bearable. I run DPS, while the queue might be longer, I have more fun.

That's not what im getting at you stated you didn't want to mess with more than 6 skills that doesn't even sound like an mmo. It just sounds like more or less you don't enjoy the genre

The concept of too slow is one i could never figure out and kind of makes me laugh at the stupidity.

When has someone ever in real life said....whoa isn't this FUN,yeah i hope it ends real soon!!.

So then obviously you don't like the combat, why play then?Lot's of ARPG's to choose all you do is act and no reaction. How to win in one move, imagine that concept in any other facet of sport/reality.
Just paid $300 to watch this hockey game, hmm drop of puck it's over, thanks for coming. All my friends showed up to watch Blizzcon, taps mic is this thing on,ok thanks for coming out guys cya next year.

The pressure is intense, two of the greatest minds ever engaged in this epic Chess battle,Joe Slepp makes the first move,it's intense rook moves, game over, wasn't that an exciting match, the move was incredibly well thought out.

Group of 12 of the best Warcraft players ever join forces to take on the unbeatable uber boss of epicness, the fight begins Mage casts spell of I WIN,the battle is over, man was that an incredible battle people around the world watched with excitement.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

The only reason I don't stay in this game is basically a "me problem", where I have trouble with raids, especially the really difficult ones (memorization of mechanics is my issue). I renew my sub whenever there is a new xpac or new story, otherwise I find it demoralizing trying to do the end game content. Playing as a RDM is one of the easiest classes to get into, and doesn't require a whole lotta of abilities to do good damage with. Still my only issue is trying not to die consistently in the raids. Otherwise, this is the best MMORPG you can play, if you are into fantasy games.

From the description of the trial version this must foster and accommodate solo players on servers, something which is a bane for any MMO. There has been a battle of solo versus grouping and guilds since MMOS began and it seems to me like SE are putting up a white flag when it comes to the trial version. For grouping and guilds to stay strong there should be no barriers to them, penalize trial members in other ways.

Being able to buy your way past the story is awful, but that's where MMOs are today. FFXIV is one of the few MMOs with a harkening to old school, so this really surprised me. Likewise for race and patron options, I can understand why SE decided to downplay these and on the whole agree, but Lalafell's look silly as tanks, you do need class restrictions if the bonuses become marginal.

Multiclassing has its uses but it does raise the question, why level another character? I saw this in Rifts, alting took a hit.

This is a great introduction for new players, and there is only one thing you need to do if you need to know more; join a guild, they will tell you everything else you need to know.

After what may seem like a lot of negative points I should say that I think FFXIV is one of the best MMOs we have, gamer mates rate it highly. They just don't make them as good as this anymore.

Buying your way through the story is because there have been numerous complaints that much of the part that they can buy their way through is tedious and consisted of running from one NPC to another in loops. It was losing them subscribers that might otherwise have stayed in the game.

I am one of those people who actually did all the tedious quests and advanced and I didn't mind them but it was obvious that their plans to gather higher numbers of players were being bogged down by the tedious parts of the story so they fixed that with money...hooray?

They could have just spiced up those parts of the story, I heard that overall the story is really good? And players who expect to hit top level by the end of the week are always going to find something to complain about.

Yes extremely well done and to be honest ironically all that tedious bits gets you invested in the story. I left before one of the expansions and I have never been able to go back because I fear I will perform badly in groups having lost my edge as a healer due to age and forgetting stuff. The thought of starting from scratch with a new toon has me running for the hills.

It would have to be the role-playing server for me, but cheer leaders never go amiss. :)
