Naw the game red dead redemption 2 has an on-line version where you can play it online. What they are doing is selling the on-line only version for like 5 bucks now and will raise it to 20 bucks later.
So if people want the off line game they can buy it but if they want to play online they can do that cheaper than the game.
Just their way to keep making cash on the game. They sell different addons and stuff for the on-line version already, this just lowers the price of entry for that on-line version to get more people to play. Kind of their version of free to play game that really gets people to pay more over time than if they just bought the game in the first place:)
I own the game so not really knocking it, i like it, just not a fan of the continuous costs that you run into in games now-a-days. But like most of these FTP games, you can play basics for cheap, the more you spend is up to each person.
To your question, PVE? No, far as i know, the on-line game is PVP as well. I have not played it, so how much PVP or ganking goes on others may have more info.
It has PvE things to do but its 90% PvP so you will be ganked it really is pretty much GTA online but western themed. So yes people will try to take your stuff.
Saying that the old west was just wild so that's the way it is amounts to total BS. If a guy is being dragged down the street in the old west I am sure the Sheriff would have something to say about that. And for gods sake do something about the mods and the bots.
