Leading up to The Game Awards, Pearl Abyss released a tiny taste of a trailer, but they sure followed it up with a lengthy, gorgeous looking gameplay trailer that has us excited for the, largely single player, title that follows in the same Desert Universe as Black Desert.

It's still processing on YT - should be HD soon!
er no. This was always publicized as a MMORPG and NOT a coop game.
Teh animations are so fast you can barely see the sword swinging, they must have cut the animations in 1/2 or 1/3 of the mount needed to look right.Somersaults<<grrr automatically i wouldn't give you two cents for your game.<br />
I saw all i needed, game is off my list not that i would support Pearl ever again anyhow after the scam they pulled on me with BDO.1 day later and i couldn't get a refund because they said i accepted a gift>>>a pixel pet lol.
Well good job Pearl,i will never buy another product of yours for the rest of my life.
So now my blacklist is Smedley...Studio Wildcard/Snail/Grapeshot,Pearl Abyss,Chris Roberts i will never support any of these people/businesses ever again.

"Pearl Abyss’s recently announced single- and multiplayer blended RPG"
[mod edit] Crimson Desert has always been advertised as an MMORPG. not a "single-and multiplayer blended RPG". You do understand they make OTHER games yes? https://venturebeat.com/2020/12/10/pearl-abysss-crimson-desert-will-debut-in-the-winter-of-2021/ "The open-world massively multiplayer role-playing game is coming out for PC and consoles in winter 2021."
Guess the link I posted with interview with the game maker is lying. Damn your website link doesnt even have direct quotes from the maker in it.
"After showing off a first look at the game’s Scottish-inspired, Witcher-reminiscent trailer, Jung explained that the RPG’s single player campaign will focus on the scruffy mercenary introduced within: Macduff. Macduff is trying to get by in the mean continent of Pywel, leading a band of fighters, haunted by his tragic past. You know, video game protagonist stuff.
But Crimson Desert will also include “various content at high levels expected of an…MMORPG,” Jung tells the crowd during the presentation. Its combat, in particular, will apparently feel familiar to BDO players, with NPC enemies both human and beastial, and PvP elements."

There was a little too much screen shaking during the combat parts in the reveal, hope that can be tweaked as I could barely follow what was going on.
They make some pretty stuff, and everything except the pvp/combat looks great.
The combat just makes me tired just watching a bit of it.
Also the combat and UI in BDO were garbage, I could not last more than 1 hour in that game, I tried to play it 3-4 times, each time after 1 hour of struggling I remember why I uninstalled it the last time and that's why I have like 4 hours on BDO on Steam - on a few occasions I tried to play the game and gave up on it immediately.
Bless Unleashed also looks VERY generic and boring. I think Crimson Desert will also end up being generic and boring and sheeple will just play it for the fancy graphics and because other sheeple are playing and they are attracted by the big numbers thinking it makes a game good.
I have had this impression that new Asian and Western MMOs just no longer look appealing or have distinctive style, like ArcheAge, Bless, Blade & Soul, New World, Crimson Desert, Elyon, etc. They all look so boring and generic despite utilizing some top notch graphics.
Old games like Vanilla WoW, Lineage 2, Perfect World, Jade Dynasty and Silkroad Online look more visually appealing to me for some reason. Like the developers managed to somehow strike gold on the art style and despite how old graphics look nowadays, it's just more appealing to me.
My thoughts exactly. Think the studio was trying to amp the look of things too much. Makes for 'exciting' footage, but to me unplayable as a game. Between the ground shake and the insane amounts of blur it was hard to focus.

I have the same problem with BDO and Bless. They look cool, but I just can't get into them for some reason..they just fall flat for me. It's like an ice-cold soda/pop with no carbonation, all sugary with no fizz.
I actually like the graphics in New World. I wouldn't call them boring at all. Part of this may be due to the fact that there just aren't a lot of video games - especially mmo's - set in its time period. I love the detail in the gear and the world art/lighting. I know there are many that will disagree with me but I like the game-play as well.
That said, IMO they would deliver a much better long-term play experience by reintroducing some of the survival aspects that they dumped, and integrating them back into other systems like crafting. Example: having the quality of gear repair linked to a skill within a specific skill tree.
I'd be ok with that.
It's a stunning game, absolutely love the art design. I actually love BDO combat but I don't like the flashy bits.
This seems a little less flashy and it would be my preference to have the combat slower (more like Dark Souls) but I'll adjust.
I'm more concerned about their monetization.

You can turn off screen shake in Black Desert so it's my hope you can do that here. Also the flashy stuff as well.

Not an mmorpg. It's a "narrative-driven single player game with online multiplayer functionality."
"Crimson Desert is an open-world action-RPG, but it ditches some (but not all) of Black Desert's MMO elements in favor of a single-player focus with lighter multiplayer overlap."
https://www.gamesradar.com/crimson-desert-is-an-open-world-action-rpg-from-black-desert-online-studio-pearl-abyss-and-its-coming-next-winter/
stupid long link.
IT seems it's had mmorpg elements, pvp, group vs group pvp of some sort but it's also focused on some sort of single player experience.
I'm not sure if that just means it has a single player story and the rest is mmorpg (which seems pretty much what all recent mmorpg's are about) or if it's really a choice between single player world and multip-player/mmorpg.
I guess it's just not clear but it seems somehow it's not a full on mmorpg.

Combat or the PvP was never of any interest to me and was just the means to advance in the game for me to get to the parts I enjoyed. I hope they reveal more details of the trading and resource structure and how workers will be done. Do workers finally get some food with that beer they drink in copious amounts?
It's all a matter of taste. I personally think combat should be visceral. Not pressing buttson and seeing what will happen.
Others prefer slow combat with button presses so they can watch what happens based on stats.;
It's all good, just different.
