Sometimes, you can't get enough dinosaurs, as Ark: Survival Evovled developer Studio Wildcard taught us with the announcement of Ark II. That isn't the only thing that players will get more of, it also seems, by the trailer, that Ark II will have plenty of Vin Diesel, as he steps into the role of Santiago.

Genuinely the most disgusting announcement of TGA. Ark is an unfinished, buggy, poorly optimized piece of crap. Studio Wildcard has zero business releasing a sequel. One of the worst companies in the gaming industry.

it all began with Dark N light, stolen world builder forced the game to get shut down.
In Comes Stieglitz and Rapzak and co and somehow they are amalgamated into Snail games.

Well Stieglitz was working for Trendy but had a contract agreement to not leave and steal from Trendy.Well he leaves and begins stealing employees from Trendy and of course money trumps all so they settle because trendy likely couldn't afford a long legal battle.

Then again you have to wonder WHERE did this dude get 40 million to settle the lawsuit,he must have a lot of money trees.

Anyhow Dark n Light makes a return, then Ark and several spinoffs within the ARk realm. They never finish ANYTHING the ystart but decide hey let's do an Atlas using the exact same template/code.
people cry foul ....Ark Mod you scammed people pretending it is a new game, they claimed not it isn't a mod.Well i witnessed with my own eyes the EXACT words inside one of the .INI files that said ARK:MOD.

It doesn't end there, never finishing Atlas and seemingly doing what looks like the work of 2 people over 2 years they decide to release another game Wild West.people new to the scene thought hmm kind of cool game because yeah the template used is a good one but then everyone noticed the game was abandoned.

This group of shysters strings people along pretending "oh we need to keep working on bug fixes but way too much proves otherwise. So what happens just the other week, they made sure to put in some legal document that everyone has to sign upon entering Atlas now.Inside the typical lawyers legal mumbo jumbo with the typical "we can change this TOS without warning to anyone" and "we can shut this game down without warning or reason"and by signing yo agree to all of this, not much choice there is there?

This group of 5-6 people are imo common criminals, liars and also imo the most deceptive gaming business on the planet Earth. They deserve to be called out,the consumer deserves the right to know and consumers should all be refunded their money.

I see a lot of people complaining and for good reason, but I still think ARK was an amazing game. The only reason I stopped playing was because it didn't stay primitive, but instead turned into a Primitive Dinosaur game meets SciFi Tech which completely ruined it for me.

If ARK stayed a Primitive Dinosaur focused game, I'd definitely have kept playing it. With that being said, I'll see what direction they go with this version of the game.

I completely agree. The sci-fi part ruined it. The game was buggy and I'd like to say that I hated it but 2000 hours disagrees. They nailed the whole dinosaur theme, the breeding with updated stats, the bases, etc. I've watched it from afar for a while now and it just got too sci-fi. Once the teleporting and stuff came out I left and never returned.

I don't have faith that they'll learn from their original mistakes with ARK.

Stieglitz and Rapzak were not part of the original Dark and Light team nor part of Snail Games. Snail bought the DnL IP in 2008. Stieglitz and Rapzak created Wildcard in 2014 and were sued by Trendy for breaking a non-compete agreement. The sale of Wildcard to Snail in Dec. 2015 provided the money necessary to pay the damages from the lawsuit, $40 million.

Ark: Survival Evolved was released into EA in July 2015, 6 months before the sale. After the sale, using old Ark code as a base, Snail released 6 games into EA after 2-3 years of development. Each was designed to capitalize on current trends (in order of release): ArkPark (VR), PixArk (Minecraft), DnL (Ark with magic), Atlas (Sea of Thieves), Fear the Night (DayZ), and Outlaws of the Old West (RDR). Of these 6, only 2 are currently supported (Atlas and PixArk) while the other 4 are considered abandoned with no updates and/or communication with developers for over a year. The developers of Outlaws have even stated publicly that Snail refuses to further fund the game and that they had to use their own funds to partially develop it. Snail still sells Outlaws on Steam but have yet to publicly acknowledge they have abandoned the game.

People should be warned about how Snail operates. They give a game approx. 1.5-2 years to prove itself, then abandon it w/o a word to players if it doesn't meet their player level goals. And every game seems to have major bugs, incomplete lore, and cheating issues (undermeshing, duping, etc.). So buyer beware.

Except aside from Conan Exiles, ARK was the #1 sandbox survival game on the market. In fact it was leagues better than everything else. Of course a great community of MODDERS helped keep it there, the game itself still provided the basis for what was and probably always will be the best dinosaur game ever made.

Say what you will about Snail Games, because frankly, I feel the same way about DayBreak Games, yet I consider EverQuest to be one of the top 5 MMOs of all time. So just because Snail is a scrupulous greedy as shit company, doesn't mean ARK wasn't a great game.
I was very careful not to compare Ark with the 6 other games released by Snail using old Ark code. Studio Wildcard still controlled the development of Ark even after purchase by Snail. I don't dispute Ark's position in the gaming world either. But Snail's handling of all the other IPs was atrocious and deserves to be called out.

And I agree with you about Daybreak. I purchased Landmark when it was considered to be the next Everquest and was still owned by SOE. While it showed promise, Smedley had no idea what to do with it, especially when trying to add danger elements to the game. I spent 100s of hours in that game, only to watch it all be for naught when they shuttered it.

I think Ark was one of the best games ever made for its genre.  Agree they had a lot of bugs but so does almost every other game.

I think Ark with mods is like Skyrim with mods in that they are both way better with mods.

I hope Ark 2 goes MMO route.

CanPanther got it right , wizardry once again you act like you are in the know and are just a hater on just about every game you troll topics in here. Everytime I read something you are giving some technical reason full of just utter nonsense acting like you know everything in the gaming business. VD has logged well over a thousand hours in Ark , works for wildcard now , and is a producer for the creative design teams behind the animated series and ark 2. Snail does not have a say in what development goes into Ark and like Ark or not its far from what some of the trolls here have posted about it not being updated or sitting in early access for years. It has its bugs for sure but its fully supported with weekly updates , content drops , events , and the devs are super active daily on twitter talking to players all these years later. Not to mention Ark is a cash cow as they are on the record saying they just sell DLCs and make profit , not having to sell loot crates , skins , and the other pay to play crappy mmo garbage listed on this site that is just run to the next fetch quest oh yeah heres 30 bucks for a shiny mount! A lot of these sorry mmorpg companies could learn a lot from Ark and Wildcard to be honest bugs or not. All these studios care about is cash shops aka GW2 ESP SWTOR LotRonline DCUO the list is endless...

I have been meaning to play the Ark Survival I bought real cheap like 10 Euros but have never gotten around to playing it because I am a bit worried how it will run a private server on my computer. Also been too busy playing on elite in Grim Dawn and generally amassing the beginnings of an epic gear collection in Grim Dawn and since I don't use the stash mod it is getting challenging. Wondering how many alts I have to make to hold gear.

For a pack rat like me it is the absolute worst game to play.
