The only problem with that my friend is that so many of the anti-hateboys (or fawnbois if you prefer) have join dates within the last 7 months, while those of us calling the game into question go back for example in my case over 2 years. The most vitrol, nasty, arrogant posters on the DnL boards in fact have join dates in the last 3 months. To me that only screams SHILL and FRAUD. I have never see such a blatant attempt to flood a board with posts made by people that are obviously either employed by or related to the the developers. Of course that is to be expected with Farceland et al. Once a fraud always a fraud.
Hehe - well yes, that does sound suspicious.
But you know, if you go around suggesting things like, you could end up being labelled a conspiracy theorist :P

Q: What about Vincent Pourieux and the graphical engine’s property? A: Vincent Pourieux was hired as the research and development director in order to create a graphical engine. About the litigation of the engine’s property, Vuuar reiterated what had been stated at Warcry in 2005, which is that a technology developed by an employee is the property of the firma that hires him.
My answer was :
That statement is false. I was not hired to create a graphical engine and I did not develop a technology when at NPCube. I worked on the DnL project and on the Mafate engine which makes use of the terrain technology I've been developing since 1996, a technology which is now called VWorldTerrain, formerly called V-world, which does not belong to NPCube nor Farlan in any way.
The above quoted statement is in total violation of my Intellectual Property Rights. I therefore demand these boards that this should be stated as I am here exercising my right to respond to these allegations.
In addition to that Serpico from AD made this statement :
My last post in the original thread has been lost - basically it was stating the following :
These forums are intended for the community or the game.
Therefore, they are not the place to bring the matter opposing M. Pourieux and NP3, as they are not related to the players or to Alchemic Dream.
I suggest M. Pourieux to contact the right people regarding this matter : NP3/Farlan themselves, or an attorney.
If there is indeed a problem with intellectual property, as he claims for a long time now on the unofficial forums, it should not be a problem.
In the meantime, any attempt to involve players or Alchemic Dream in this matter is not acceptable, and I will moderate it accordingly.
I was just exercising my right to answer to false allegations done publicly. AD seems to imply here that I have not done anything so far to take legal action (not to mention at first directly sorting this out with NPCube), which is of course false and totally outrageous to me. They lie and count on the time these things obviously take, especially about IP concerns and especially in overseas, far-away regions. Or AD doesn't know a single thing about that fact, because Farlan/NPCube lied to them too. But anyway, I consider that taking a stand as AD does is not part of their job.
But AD (Laellyra) already took a stand after the Warcry interview on the same subject. So, I really don't think Serpico is in a good position to state that AD is not related to this matter. AD already stated that Farlan was within their rights and implied they were sueing me, which is false, and now AD would like people to consider that this matter has nothing to do on the forums and nothing to do with AD's role?
Official DnL forums are one-way only. NPCube/Farlan can assert whatever they want, even if it's a flat-out lie, in all confidence because they will be protected by the people they pay to do the moderation. Therefore, it's no forums, it's pure advertising for DnL and the team. It seems that I am officially joining the conspiracy theorists ranks.
I was just exercising my right to answer to false allegations done publicly.
What makes you think you have that right? Common sense might, but the law has very little to do with common sense. The fact is there's not really any law against lying. The closest thing would be defamation, but the cost involved is prohibitive to most people and the protection it offers is limited.
Not that I don't sympathise or wish you well in your efforts to have your intellectual property rights recognised, but if you do take legal action, you're in for a lot more outrage. The adversarial nature of the legal system means the party who is the wrong is generally better off lieing through their teeth right to the bitter end.
I'm very cynical about the courts. I'd recommend voodoo dolls as being more effective.
Sorry _Pix_ I have to agree with Thegowch. We all know you are in the right, and what kind of people NPcube are. However, in general legal proceedure you are better off hiring a corupt judge than an honest attourney. (supposing you can find an honest attourney)
Maybe things work different in international proceedings than in any country I have lived, but so far all I have seen is those who lie have an advantage, and the more they lie the bigger the advantage is. Now if you had posted that the entire staff of NPC were neo-nazis and they stole from you because of your jewish heritage, it would be an outrage and everyone would rally to your side and NPC would be doing a quick step to appease you. As is you have stated the truth, never a popular thing it seems.
Of course I am a consipracy theorist, but then again, paranoid is better than dead.

The law itself.
I don't want to keep adding to this thread because I think we're getting a bit off topic, but...
I speak from personal experience. I truly sympathise with you and hope you find some justice but I worry that you seem to be slightly naive and that might work against you. I don't want to write an essay on the shortcomings of the legal system but you are wrong in your assertion that you have the _legal_ right to defend yourself against any lies NPCube might perpetrate against you on their forums. I wouldn't count myself an expert in this particular area of the law but I'm guessing their forums (as a publishing medium) are considered their property and they are under no obligation to permit anyone to express views they don't wish to allow - in much the same way that an editor or newspaper owner can control which articles (from both paid journalists and the public) they choose to publish.
If you haven't already, do seek legal advice. The law is a strange creature. Eg. in the state I live in defamation is a criminal offence. There is, however, a long-standing and firm policy in the prosecutions office that it is never to be prosecuted. So on paper it's a crime, but it in reality it isn't. It has to be pursued through civil courts, and these particular suits are horrendously expensive. Even if you win and are awarded damages and costs, nine times out of ten, the guilty party never pays.
Because you have to be so rich that you can afford to throw that kind of money away, defamation type laws essentially don't exist for the majority of people. Theft of intellectual property is an entirely different matter which I know almost nothing about so I can't offer any comments on it.
That said if there are any terms of service attached to the D&L site and forums, have a careful read through them. It's a long shot but if they have some clause relating to harassment you might be able to make a case that their behaviour on the forums was a contractual breach under their terms of service. By itself it wouldn't be much and a court would likely spank you for wasting their time but if you were eg. taking them to court for intellectual property theft it might be something you can pursue at the same time - but again, I'd seek formal legal advice on that.
what kills me is now the fanbois are stating that Vuuar did in fact admit that without his expertise they have had to redo the workings. And acting as though now _pix_ is the awful bad guy in the situation. What they dont seem to understand is.....Vuuar should have never had put himself in the situation of which he had to admit that without _Pix_ , they cant do it. That without _Pix_ changing a bit of it now makes it theirs. _Pix_ sticking up for his right, as any developer of any software would certainly do and certainly against such slimy ppl as Farlan. Now the fanbois are trying the sleazy weasel route of twisting it so that _Pix_ is the one who is acting "juvenile" (yes! That word was used!!! incredible aint it?).
You still cant change the fact that Farlan should never have had to be in the position for their lies and sleazy ways to be exposed for what they are. Peroid.

This makes total sense. I think you perfectly understand how they proceed. BTW, I made a response to one of Vuuar's answer to the IRL in Paris, sticky on the official boards: http://www.darkandlight.net/forums/showthread.php?p=983616#post983616

But AD removed it from the sticky thread about this interview and moved it somewhere in the deep end of the forums in the "off topic discussion" section here http://www.darkandlight.net/forums/showthread.php?p=986632#post986632
