So the layoffs were not due to him deciding to shut down CoE, he did the layoffs and decided the game was no longer viable with so few staff and he had to shut it down? Really? Also don't mention Corvid, every other CF MMO went through that and Jeremy closed shop on 20 March 2020, the pandemic had barely started.

First i had o refresh myself because i lose track of time,it has been 4+ years since this started,a little longer than i thought.

So then i wanted to know the goals and how it started with Kickjstarer.I was surprised that they asked or 900k,we all know you cannot build a game with that.It bothers me because it proves that Kickstarter does not have ANY criteria or common sense when allowing a KR program to happen.
Yes i understand the definition of the word kickstarter,to kick start a game but that just means the whole idea behind kickstarter is to allow ANYONE to just take free money even if there is absolutely no way they can make a game with it and KS'r is ok with that.

Yep goal met,carry on nothing to see here,KS'r gets their cut of the pie with no care at all for the people who donated their money.So it imo puts KS'r right alongside the douchebaggery of the gaming world.

Furthermore,with absolutely NO guarantees moving beyond that point,WHY did Jeremy even ask for an amount that could NOT accomplish the promises.The whole ordeal just reminds me how little i think of the idea behind crowd funded games,it is total bullshit.

OK so 4 years and pretty much nothing,is there honestly ANY hope of this ever becoming a decent playable game,imo not a chance in hell.Jeremy started this grabbing that free 900k and turned it into a few million more qith still no chance to build the game.I can't imagine what is going on in the courts.IMO a judge would have to be a complete idiot to not see this was a scam from day 1,he never had the money to pull this off so he just took free money and paid himself a wage pretending to be a developer.

Scumbag video #2. Literally the only thing this guy is saying is that they're focusing on the land management and bullshit that isn't really a game. They're working on creating an interactive chat room and not focusing on the "adventuring" part of the game, IE: The actual meat of the game. They can try to sell land and houses to idiots again. Disgusting.

On the positive side of things, you have to love the number of times a person can say "not at liberty to discuss that" in an interview and still maintain a goal of "transparency" and "communication". That, and the total lack of dates for milestones. There's skill here, but it's far more related to 'obfuscation' than it is to 'developing a game'. Hogwashery and Bafflegabbium, I say!

This is the (possible) MMORPG that MMORPG really shouldn't cover.

This is the (possible) MMORPG that MMORPG really shouldn't cover.

I honestly believe that this is the level of self-delusion he needs to maintain in order to face himself in the mirror. He HAS to convince himself this is true or he has to come to grips with the fact that he failed himself, his family, his employees and thousands of people who trusted him.

But at the end of the day... he is going to ask for money again. Maybe not today. Maybe not this year. But at some point he is going to have to ask for money.... and people who actually open their wallets are going to 100% deserve what happens next.

The main challenge is that the main character is totally lacking charisma and likeability. Hard to have than in a comedy.

If i were him, i'd kinda be worried, looking over my shoulder, you fucked people over, crazy people, mmorpg people, the craziest of them all, and you ripped them off.

I mean if people were able to fall for this again, then there are people whom don't care that there are laws which protect semi human lowlife scums like this, and laws only matter if someone is looking anyway.

Sure any normal person wouldn't bother but we are talking mmorpg players here, the craziest rootinest tootinest son o bitches ever walked this earth i tell you that right here right now, and you not only ripped them off, you broke their hearts, and worst of all, their dreams my dude and yeah, that's not good.

For so many this will seem strange but i don't bother with facebook, twitter, and being real i use this site, i have very little internet exposure overall. Not being all holier-than-thou or anything, just i dunno what to say, no interest, don't care, i really don't know, i have so much on the go all the time, and so little time to do it that oh and i use wowhead and swg:l forums, under different handles. i keep my game world separated, i mean in rare moments i'll use reddit to rant lol

, and cruised through some other sites at one time looking for a new home, poly, ars, verge and so on and it's all the same trash worlds, and yeah who figured i'd end up where i started lol. use my phone to text, that's it, So yeah, mmorpg, and a couple forums, everything else internet is pure research when required, and streaming ofc.

WTF is this? I saw this and was so confused. I guess this is just the modern gaming standard at play? Like WTF are they doing? I don't even get it.

The gaming industry is just so bad now it's beyond meme levels. Between Pantheon, CoE, BL3 and now even CP2077. I mean no type of game or game studio is immune to this asshattery.

F2P, B2P, crowdfunding, microtransactions, DLC, Early Access, pre-order shenanigans, cash shops, pay to win, pay to progress. All this garbage is now just the standard faire of shite found in all games regardless of studio or game type. Can't say I'm surprised. I saw this coming as everyone started going down the F2P/MTX model which clearly changed the focus from gaming to monetizing.

I have been back to WoW for the last months just mindlessly running through old content I never completed because I'm so bored. Even WoW is not immune to this garbage with more and more stuff in their cash shop despite the game being sub + expansion costs. The games industry is suffering from rank greed and lacking creativity or passion for actual games. SAD.

So lets just temporarily suspend reality and live in Jeromy's world for a minute.

He sold Kingships, land, titles and all that. Those people are literally suing him now. He claims he is focused on developing the land/kingdom stuff.

In order for that to work, he has to assume that all these people are going to forget his countless fuckups and how he "shuttered his company" and go back and play his "game".

In what reality does that happen?

To be fair, even with all the Cash Shop Shenanigans and Asshattery that has been going on, I have managed to spend.. about the same on MMO's as I did 20 years ago, if I adjust for inflation, I am paying a bit less overall.

That makes it sound like he's not so much trying to make his customers happy, but only to convince courts that he delivered the bare minimum that he promised and his customers are merely upset because they didn't like it. Taking crowdfunded money and using it to make a bad game because you're too inept to make a good game isn't a crime.
