You mean Divinity Original Sin 3, it's a copy paste of the entire game and all systems, same engine.

The fact they are charging not only full price, but a premium price of $60 for an unfinished game is just absurd. Taking their time too....taking advantage of that reputation they gained. Good luck next time Larian. This game won't be finished for a long time.

If you actually played it you would know this is not true.

I am honestly kind of taken back by how hostile everyone is toward this game and Larian.

Larian has always been the red headed step child of the industry, and from what I have seen of them over the years ( I've been playing their games since Divine Divinity ) they have never given me a reason not to trust them as a dev.

Yes, the use of the same engine is kind of a turn off- and I loved and still play DOS 1 and 2. However, there is no way they're scamming people out of their money, and although the practice of selling a full price unfinished game is a little beyond the pale it is not an uncommon practice in the industry at all. At least with Larian, I feel safe saying it will be finished eventually and most likely on a realistic timetable as well.

Not to mention, they have always been willing to go slightly above and beyond for their customers. The added support for popular mods in the DOS2 was a welcome addition they had no obligation to follow threw on as far as I can tell, and yet they did, if you're looking for an example. It may not be Witcher 3 level of commitment, but it is there.

They're a AA studio moving up the ladder and have done nothing to deserve the vitriol being throw their way. Not yet, anyways.

You guys act as if you're paying 60$ for early access and then are going to have to pay 60$ again for the full game for some reason, too. That is also not true.

Weird apologism going on here, they didn't do this with their previous games. I'd want a refund by now.

They did this exact thing with D:OS2. They crowd-funded it and then sold it Early Access for $50 until it was released. D:OS was crowd-funded and sold EA too. If anything is weird it's the revisionist history and faux outrage. This isn't an MMO with nothing to show after 5 years with years to go before release.

Not only that but when they remastered D:OS and updated it they provided the remaster to existing game owners for no additional charge. That is something many other studios did not do with their games, like Dragon Quest XI "S". Larian has been operating in good faith for years now.

What is really puzzling is a cash grab MTG game from Cryptic offering an $80 8 skin cosmetic pack isn't getting the same heat. People here are falling all over themselves at the idea of throwing AAA box fee prices at PWE for 8 skins. Meanwhile this game is getting constant updates and gets the hate. Weird indeed.
Its just Pavlovian foaming at the mouth without actually knowing what is going on.

Which is why an EA price of $39.99 would have been more acceptable. It's the $59.99 price tag that has me turned off.

Exactly they did this for the Divinity Original Sin 2 too because I waited a bit before buying and I recall they were in early access then too and had charged full price. You're free not to purchase so what is the problem. Why the anger at something which is totally within your control.

It is ridiculous that people are now saying they did it differently before. Nice revision there but it won't work because many of us were here then too.

Folks often forget there are many different ways to play these games. It's an RPG with Co-Op, not an MMO. I say play the way you want but don't try to force your opinion on everyone else.

I accept the game on it's own merits. The graphics are amazing and the Forgotten Realms are delivered in a beautiful art style. A lot of the hate comes from my generation (the "old guys"). They wanted BG3 to be a sequel to BG1 and BG2 with the whole Bhaal spawn thing and real time with pause play. Many of the older generation aren't familiar with the 5E ruleset either. Because BG3 isn't squarely within this trope, in their mind, it is a failure. Combat in turn-based-mode can be a lengthy process and one poor RNG roll can doom your entire party. Sure, the game has play style elements from D:OS (barrelmancy), but I don't see that as necessarily a bad thing. I actually enjoy the fact the game lets you use different strategies to engage different challenges.

There are drawbacks such as the companions included in the EA. Most of them are evil or associated with some form of evil. I'm always the "good guy". I tried to play the evil path, but just couldn't do it. The game also seems to try it's best to thwart your parties ability to engage enemies during combat. Standing right next to the npc, but the game tells you you're too far away to attack. Stuff like that becomes annoying. However, this is early access and we hope Larian addresses these issues. I've seen it posted all over the forums on Steam and the Larian website. I am optimistic they will take these critiques to heart.

It is puzzling? No matter what comes out some people are going to buy it even when the value for the money spent is questionable at best. MTG being fairly popular that some will likely be more than the norm.

I'm sure there will be plenty of bitching once the MTG game is widely available, justified or not, because when isn't there.

Old enough to have enjoyed the originals when they launched. Having played DOS1 and 2, I'd say they picked the right studio. Who else has the verifiable chops to do a proper Multiplayer RPG at this time? I am grateful that Larian has gone the route of multiplayer with their RPG's because there are precious few these days; especially considering the level of quality in the final product.

This is why I preordered. They've made this type of game before and - IMO - with terrific results.

Agree about companion choice. I don't 'play' evil. This made it hard to really like most of the characters. This is something Larian could improve on in their story arcs. Its now common in story writing to make every decision some kind of morally gray situation because the thought is that this is more interesting to people. Not everyone feels this way. I can think of many ways that a good character's story arc would be extremely engaging, especially given the backdrop of this particular story.

For me it is not the price and the studio has great credentials, but this tide of early access that is taking over every game is just not conducive to good standards in gaming. I know they have done this all before, it is not Larian that bothers me it is all the studios that are and will abuse this system.

I find playing "evil" makes for decisions you really have to think about, where as playing "good" is just ticking the tick boxes in the story. Tyranny did that really well.

That said I never play "evil" in MMOs, my avatar in a MMO is far more "me" than my avatar in a solo rpg. This was confirmed when we tried WH Online, Chaos became a chore for which I found no inspiration to actually want to play long term. Most of the guild felt the same and the Chaos side of the guild was abandoned after a few months. I will never forget seeing horses being broken in by Dark Elves (you actually really see little, but hear their cries) and thinking why the hell are we fighting for these guys?

I pre-ordered knowing I was walking into a Divinity engine, and I hate the Divinity series. The looting containers and graphics in general I hated.

But, I really enjoyed my playthrough of act 1. The graphics are different, although I still hate the looting system. I didn't like the containers or inventory, but that was fixed since I stopped playing to wait for another act.

I still hate Divinity, and this looks like a Divinity ripoff, but it feels different enough for me that I enjoy it.

My biggest gripe is the shoddy cinematics. They look pretty terrible for a game made recently.

Dude you can't expect much , from a guy who gave 9/10 for Cyberpunk 2077. The game has zero bugs from his point of views..You can tell he played the game, a bit like this article.
