Certainly think no MMO should be less than six years old to get a MMO reroll. One of the few MMOs to have "gods", which were erased from MMO's over the last several years, but then it is an older MMO so not that surprising.
Don't think this one is for me but good to hear about the solid population, these old MMOs are still here because they are played, regardless of what some think.
Totally amazed that Skyforge is still running, my only question is for how long?
I mean once they announce sunset - it will be the least surprising news ever
They just released it on Switch.
It had potential one but all that remains now of the game is the semi-decent combat system. The RPG elements are gone, the constant goalshifting and grind when it comes to grind is astronomical and so is the pay-to-win.
Obsidian had promising ideas with Skyforge and Armored Warfare. Sadly their awesome RPG creation talent didn’t translate to online platforms.
Skyforge was a fresh concept at the time with their ‘one-avatar, all-classes’ format. It played well and the combat was fun.
Unfortunately the added logistics and coding to properly run an MMO was out of reach and both titles went to the used car lot known as My.com. Shame really.
I stopped playing this a while back, If I still remember correctly there are some nodes that were choke points where you have to do it in group to complete it. The grinds are horrible.
The PVP was the best part but it gets boring pretty quick. and also you are a god, but when you walk near water you will die, I guess gods don't like taking a bath.

5 years and 8 months, so it is close to the 6 year mark. The age of the MMO isn't really a factor for me. It's more about jumping back in on a game I haven't played for a few years (or never played) to give it another try and see what it has to offer now. I've tried to jump around the MMO timeline and genres some as well.
This reads almost like the Skyforge reveiw from 2016, because very little of actual substance has changed since then, all they've done is moved most of the meaningful content into a UI.

Was it? Let's see...
Trove, the very same (even the initial class selection walk-up is similar), from the same year, and was playable in beta a year before.
Or go back 3 years to TSW: one avatar, all-[everything] -since had no classes, you've built your own decks ("classes") from all the powers, and switched among them at-will.
Another nice review. Not my favourite game (glad to see CO is still rated higher ), but agree on the closing thought: it's free and worth a try-out, especially for those who choose their games mainly for the combat. They can have some fun with its action combat for a while.
However, it's boring on the long run, too linear and shallow for my taste.
Also, too heavy on the grind, with a cash shop eager to help alleviating said grind.
I used to like playing SkyForge but I stopped playing when I found that the skill tree had nodes that could only be unlocked if you did PvP. Once I found that I was forced to do PvP to access certain areas of the tree I just left the game. Now and then I would go back delete my old character and play again for a bit until I hit that wall then uninstalled it once again.
I really enjoyed this game. Hell, it was one of the few mmos where I pvped sometimes (mainly due to the rewards but wasn't terrible). Then, they nerfed to oblivion the only class I enjoyed due to pvp (slayer). This made it also weak in pve and more in dungeons.
From there onwards, I tried other classes but couldn't stick with any. No one wanted to do dungeons with the nerfed class, so I stopped playing.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
The stealth game mechanics and 2nd to none, even after all this time.
No other game has done the stealth melees and archers as well.
