All this is very nice, but there should be 2 options; PvP and PvE oriented. It's quite selfish to assume this will appeal only to ppl love to PvP. When organize something that big, should include all options available and present them on the table, imho.
The community has decided that pvp server is a way to go and that's a good decision in my opinion. This game is about a ongoing conflict between two factions, so in this case pve servers are like driving a sports car that has a 100km/h speed limit turned on. No fun and boring.

Except there have always been more PvE players than PvP

Look mate, I am coming from the pvp scene, but there's nothing "exciting" in running back to your corpse in 10 min or more (depends on the zone), so cut this crap. Most players will leave due to this, or have fun being camped and see how "exciting" will be this for ya. I think not.
Hence I said that about PvE, despite your understandings about being exciting in PvP, which is not, especially on fresh server.
Good to see old MMOs going strong and open world PvP as we need diversity in MMO play styles. Not for me though, RvR or near equivalents make for the best PvE/PvP.
I agree if it was RvR it would be so much better. The PvP servers generally fail in WoW because of population imbalances that drive the players to leave the losing side ultimately.
This is probably a waste of time and effort as it will end up a failure too.

But from that they might learn, 'OK PVP open world is not sustainable long term' and look to something like flagged PvP.
There is a fresh happening for NA/OCE players as well!
Would be great if the writer or mod could update it to direct players to this growing community, almost 4k!

The thought never crossed my mind, i'm so into raiding, mythic +, classic wasn't on my radar and still isn't, but...
I never saw the chaos classic has caused coming, and it's here!
I wasn't into retail when vanilla classic was coming, overall ended up in retail becasue of classic, and now in to raids, mythic, which i've never dove deep in to in wow before.
We all know 9.1 is most likely way out, and now with classic coming, it's caused some major shifts in game, a huge portion of the guild are going to play classic, which then many raiders walked to another guild due to the loss of players, boys and i are hanging tight ftm.
It's not like raids won't happen anymore, but the last week none took place, they're restructuring teams ect, so a bump in the road, but my gawd peeps be so quick to just leave. Which i dunno, i'm new to this side of wow, that might be normal? Guild drama is fresh and alive still though, that will never die.
