Just a reminder of how many people play these games. 5k ($75k) is a large monthly loss.

Is perma ban? Or Square follow that stupid system of "regeneration" of bad players?

Hopefully they ban buyers too and advertise it as such, because without buyers there are no sellers. Gold sellers get all the publicity all the time, need to hold buyers just as accountable.

These articles need to stop calling RMT illegal. Nothing illegal about any of it. Stick to RMT is against the games TOS.

Until they start banning buyers nothing is going to happen to slow rmt in any game.

To the sellers getting a new account is simply a normal business expense.

Focus on banning buyers instead of sellers. You get the cheats out of the game, people stop buying, and rmt start leaving due to no/limited profits.

According to the courts rmt is a 100% legit service business in the US. So all a mmo company can do is remove the customer base for them to stop it.

Yes because i am sure as i know they do follow rmt and trace the transactions way back in the logs. The game stores log for a very long time so if you trade with any rmt you will likely get caught at some point. As long as their is an rmt market within the game they will just buy another account or steal a hacked account which is maybe how they start getting caught.

This is why i have been talking about Auction house only transactions. There is still a small way around that but not that easy to pull off unnoticed.I do not think RMT will setup shop anymore if their AH accounts were limited to a max of 6/7/8 items and not trading between characters which they like to do to move from low level no care accounts to the bigger money accounts.

Devs need to start getting a grasp on the severity of RMT,that way there will be a real honest market for wares where hard working players are rewarded.Once you  allow RMT to take a hold of the economy it ruins it pretty much forever.

I remeber when FFXI finally cracked down on it with a real player task force team, level 7 items went from being ridiculous 2/3/4 million back down to still an inflated 150-300k for what should be a 5-10k max item.
Simple math RMT cause an inflation hike so incredible it would be similar to 100-200+ years in real life inflation.

If 5000 is merely a drop in the ocean that is quite alarming and I do agree with other posters who said the buyers should be banned too.

Semantics dude....it is illegal within the game according to TOS, no one but you is mistaking this for being criminally illegal. Literally no one cares about this wording but you.

The problem is that people who buy gold from gold spammers are necessarily people who are willing to spend a lot of money on online games. And that's not who developers want to ban, for obvious reasons.

I look forward to your explaining to the NFL that their penalties for Illegal Shift, Illegal Formation, and Illegal Contact (beyond five yards) are invalid. The word "illegal" is commonly used in the sense of against the rules of the game, which is how it is used here.

And that is the problem. Big companies focus on profits above all else.

Ban sellers they buy a new account = more money to company.

Ban buyer lose a sub and no new box sales due to rmt not needing to buy a new account = lose money

Maybe they prefer lose some money than keep in the game bad players feeding bots, sometimes money is nothing, the health of the server and the respect is better than some subs

Surely you're not that naive. It counts for almost nothing these days.

FYI, their free trial now allows players to play for free through the heavenward content. So many of these banned people will not need to pay a thing to farm more gold.

I imagine that if any company banned everyone who bought gold they would lose hundreds of thousand if not millions in revenue. Those people would end up leaving the game. I believe there are a lot more people buying gold than we realize. This goes for wow too. There are a lot of bots and ads because there is high demand.

Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.
