Fallout 76 didn't have the best of launches with the multiplayer game set in the post-apocalytic universe stumbled out of the gate. However, since then as the team has worked on the survival game, it's become one of the most played games on Xbox, according to Todd Howard.

So ..am I reading it wrong or maybe, I look to "far away", or THE head of Xbox actually gave Todd some very precious information on what works and what not on Xbox, so Bethesda can "fix" their game and ...make more money?

I mean, if any other Dev Team can ..call the head of Xbox and asks this kind of ...advices, then all good. If not, well .. this sounds like "nepotism" :)

That doesn't have anything to do with whether people create accounts, log in, and play it though which is what the basis of the statement is on. The game has a really booming player base at the moment, and is doing really well. I agree with what the article says about each update doing a really good job at bringing things into the game that it really needed.

Kinda sad that the game selection on the Xbox is so bad that FO76 is at the top of the list

Yep, if one doesn't "enjoy" managing their inventory definitely steer clear of this game.

Also, it really, really helps to sub for the unlimited stash box, unless you have totally no problem dropping perfectly good gear and valuable crafting materials on the ground.

Unsaid for obvious reasons is even more play it on the PS4 from my observations.

One big reason the game flourishes so much better on consoles is weapon duping and hacking aren't nearly so rampant as found on the PC servers.

Why wouldn't they? The more money that gets spent on their game (through the xbox or windows store) the more money they make. Microsoft would be stupid not to tell any dev that asks what would make more money.

Good for them. I'm always happy for games that could mprovw their games. I got it, should have released "improved". Absolutely correct, but in real life, not everything is flawless. Kudos

It's staggering that lazy-made, mediocre trash like Fallout 76 is well received... Gamers must have some REEEEAAALY low standards nowadays if they think this is a good game, even more so - worth paying for. If Fallout 76 was F2P, I probably wouldn't even bother tainting my storage unit with its data.

It is amazing how Fallout 76 was able to get from bad to worse. At release you had atleaast PVP and expectations that game gets better, but as time went on more features got removed (WPvP, Survival serves) and bad features were added (P2W).

The Season content was a good idea to retain a player base.

If one enjoys the series, just disregard the online factor and play it as another instalment. That's what I did (apart of the group daily once per day), and the game plays the same as fallout 4.

    Honestly, it is better now.

"When that game launched, the litany of issues we had, and we let a lot of people down," Howard said, referring to Fallout 76. "There was very little we didn't screw up, honestly."

But that didn't stop them putting it out did it? Some may say Bethesada has form on buggy launches, but this went way beyond that. I think it is fair to say that this game could have failed because of how bad its launch was. But we live in an era of gaming where players loyalty to IP's and their own dreams for new games means you have to shut your own game down to stop people playing it. If players continue to behave like this playing games that launch screwed up will become a regular occurrence.

Like NMS (launched polished but with minimal content) the game may now be a good game, but accepting this sort of behaviour from studios is simply bad for gaming.

That is why you wait, and buy it when it costs a fraction of what they originally wanted.

Well that ties in with always waiting until you see the reviews before you put anything in and waiting until you have as many dlcs as you expect them to produce before you buy. I can't stand the fuss of reloading an old game to play a new dlc. So certainly my solo game purchases are already where you are saying.

I didnt get FO76 with any of my three Xbox (Xbox S, Xbox X and Series X)

It is on Gamepass now though

I will say I tried the game and found it to be better than I thought it was going to be.
I have friends who play it and have played it regularly.
    Good for them

I have had the same experience....i wasn't sure I would like it, especially with all the launch bashing it had, but it is an enjoyable world to explore and there's enough people around to make it feel like you are playing a multiplayer game......For me it scratches an itch that is hard to find: A world that is built around exploring. I don't even do alot of the quests.

Ugh... that's brutal. Fallout 4 is the shittiest installment of the entire franchise bar Fallout Tactics.

Both games I thought were great, played them more than all of the others combined until FO76 came along.

This is to be expected. First thing that changed was bunch of updates, which did fix a ton of issues, including addition of NPCs to make game feel more like actual Fallout game. While yes, microtransaction shenanigans are still there. But overall, game is t as much of garbage live service tier as it was on launch.

Plus it is part of Game Pass, you know that all subscription that a lot of people love to pay because it gets you huge library of games. And it is still Fallout, so if you already got it with Game Pass you might as well try it regardless of all shenanigans Bethesda did with the game. Beyond Game Pass it literally costs you nothing.

So this is pretty much expected, it is almost like game went free to play, without going free to play. But what will really matter here, is simply whether they can retain all those players. Or will they after initial spike figure out that game still isn't great and quit after a month or two and move to other, better games they got with Game Pass.

I don't get it. I think Bethesda is a worthless, lazy company in general, and that Fallout 76 is them at their absolute worst.

But I'm not going to judge someone for their guilty pleasures. I certainly have my own, and I'm very open about it. The fact that people are finding enjoyment in something is a good thing. The normal reaction to that should be envy, not contempt. Good on you.

What a disappointing article. No insights, no information, nothing tangible. It's reminiscent of my 3rd grade essays trying to hit x amount of words. Mmorpg.com has really slipped in quality.
