No where did I say I was quitting, my point was the patching and updating process was not smooth for me.
And be it on Steam or the game, does not matter. Its part of my experience. First game I have had install issues with in a long time.
xD lmao, no need to explain to a trollbot. Based on his posting history he has been trying to start a flame war since he got here. I expect he won't be here much longer.

I hopped in to a previous alpha/beta event a few months ago. Even though there was virtually no content to speak of, the world was gorgeous and so well optimized. Like, straight up amazing...I honestly couldn't believe it.
I'm going to hold off on this upcoming event. I am very interested in trying it again at a later date once more features have been added.
Joined 2004 - I can't believe I've been a MMORPG.com member for 20 years! Get off my lawn!
I noticed several YouTubers and Streamers are once again promoting this game as the second coming of PvP. Sure, it's basically an MMO version of Mordhau with an in depth secret recipe unlocking crafting system ( which of course will become obsolete thanks to gaming sites that dissect game data for a living and post all their findings for clicks ).
All in all, the combat is fairly slow paced. Definitely slower than some TAB targeting game in terms of animations, but who cares, it's directional combat which proved to be very successful in the past such as with Last Oasis.
I love PvP, I really do, but again, it's FFA and open world and most likely full loot, so good luck with that. I get more enjoyment with FPS games because PvP doesn't involve progression. I just think PvP and gear progression is the worst combination you can have in a game.
So yeah, hard pass on this gankfest of a game.
I agree, I love PVP games and the FFA Full Loot wouldn't even bother me, if it wasn't that these games always attract the kind of people who who gank newbs repeatedly till they are the only people left playing the game

I was in the November stress beta in the most populated city. People were generally respectful if your weapons were sheathed and you weren't aggressive.
Wasn't a gank fest, maybe people were on their best behavior. Maybe live/launch will be different. But that was my experience from the last beta.

I actually got ganked by two but I expected that so it was fine.
then I died and couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do so logged out.

Thanks for the info, let's hope that stays the spirit even when more people get on board
My advice to all those going into beta... when you log in to your town. Get on general chat and ask which city has the most players. Delete your toon and start in that populated city over again.
You do not want to be stuck in a low pop city, you will have a lot more fun... trust me.
Also, loot corpses for arrows, bandages, and such... go to the bank and immediately keep reserves. Just carry what you need.
The Priest in town resurrects you (sometimes there is a light near him). And if you keep your weapons sheathed, and are non aggressive, many times people will not attack you (unless of course you want to pvp).
Read up on combat and blocking, it's simple but important. There are dummies to practice on.
(I posted this in the beta key thread, but based on posts here, people missed this advice).

I think someone told me that after I tried the game. So that's good for people to know.

Yeah, when I tried the beta in November... the website and forums were pretty bad for learning the game. You think the devs or players would have a starter guide or faq stickied... for noob beta testers... especially since they are so desperate to get $$$.
They do now. Looks like they have a player made guide section. This person seem to have a bunch organized on topics for those interested:
MMO's are so very much about the community, these full loot pvp games don't really tend to fit with that basic fact. These games haven't had any history of ever managing in the west at least to be anything but a marginal niche. I've seen some videos this one looks beautiful, and the skill mechanics look like they might be decent, but I have very serious doubts they can get past the basic problems of it being a full loot pvp game. That's assuming it gets that far, which in this genre, well, you never know. They also have a lot of bad reputation for the train-wreck the first game went through. Definitely a up-hill fight.
Comments
Mine updated no problem.
That has nothing to do with the game though, that's just how retarded the steam download and drive installing is. Just verify steam files.
It's perfectly normal to see the timer goes up because it's not actually downloading, it's writing to your disk

The stress test is free. Alienware still has keys.

I have yet to see posts talking about actually getting logged in, a lot about the "login-lotto" where no one "wins"
Apparently they got overwhelmed because of YouTubers and their fans, they shut the servers and are implementing a fix.
Check here:
https://www.mortalonline2.com/forums/threads/how-is-the-queue-system-suppose-to-work.1690/
But the best spot is their discord, devs are giving live updates there:

It is a stress test, including the login servers (failed that one... but they didn't expect thousands to login at the same time due to the streamers).
